Hey, great idea. The 1st American flag on Mars should be planted by the "U.S.S. Sheila Jackson Lee."
To: Orion78
I'll take one of those pings.
Thank you

Ditto, I can't wait until MER B Lands on the 24th. MER A will be well underway and there will be so many new pictures of Mars I will be like a kid in a candy shop.

Opportunity's site is a hematite formation supposedly so it will be interesting to see the rocks there. Hematite is considered a water process mineral formation. I can't wait to see what the rock closeups at this site will look like.
Remember the first color pancam image from jan 5? There is a neat rock you should look at in that image. I'll try cut it and to post it here in a little while but it looks like a it was cleaved into similar. I'm no geologist but I can only speculate that liquid water freezing could have split the rock like that. Of course it could also be an image anomoly where they pasted the pics together but I can't tell by looking at it.
To: Route66
Err lol, like 5 mins and 3 seconds, I forgot to refresh and thought you just posted that. Anyway, thanks for looking into it. I have been browsing other images looking for the same rock. The only other image I have found with the rock in it is the Black and White 3D panorama and the resolution is so poor compared to the most recent color one that you can't discern anything about the rock or any hole that might be there. It just looks like a blob when you zoom in.

Just curious, but why do you think the Mars mission is a waste of money?

does anyone else find it odd that as soon as the UK gets close to landing a craft on mars and now the chinesse space program that now all of a sudden we seem to be doing very well in our space exploration.
- The sucessful landing, the weird space mud that cant be mud, now this.
To: Orion78
In that photo the hole looks very very square. How odd.

Nah, that was the photo taken after the government destroyed the face to cover up the evidence of aliens on mars. /tinfoilhat
