DEMOCRATS TAKE FIRST STEPS TO SUPREME COURT
As expected, district court rejects request for stay
The wheels are in motion on the Democrats appeal to a federal three-judge panels decision that the Texas Congressional map is both lawful and Constitutional.
The US District Court for the Eastern District of Texas denied all relief requested by the plaintiffs on Tuesday morning. By Wednesday morning, the Jackson plaintiffs and the Congressional intervenors had filed a request for emergency stay with the District Court, the first step on the way to the nations highest court. This morning, the District Court made the expected decision to deny that stay.
By tomorrow afternoon, paperwork for an emergency stay should be filed with the US Supreme Court, said Attorney Gerald Hebert.

You'd have to figure that the Supremes will take the case, even if they think it has no merit, simply because of the political calculus..

I think the Supremes will take a pass -- I don't think they don't want to meddle with the Leglative Branch's voting fights again.

It's 4 justices needed to grant cert, right?...so, it's a given...the minority will want the opportunity to politicize the issue...

Would that someone could invent a machine that could process South Texas Democrats and convert them to West Texas crude.

These Texas democrats, who never understand defeat, will try to take this to the UN. There is never an end to any dispute until the dispute is settled in their favor. These democrats are so frusrated right now, I would not be surprised to see hostage-taking before it's all over. They will not give up.

I can assure you West Texans do not want the Supreme Court messing with us. We might not be as populated as Houston, Dallas, but we have what counts..... OIL!!!

I have a feeling the SCOTUS will pass on this as they do on most redistricting cases. They usually stay out of it unless there is a major Constitutional issue involved and there aren't any in the Texas case.
