Governor Issues Statement on President's Immigration Reform Proposal

Today the Governor issued the following statement regarding the President's Immigration Reform Proposal:

"I am gratified that the immigration reform proposal the President announced today is moving in the direction I outlined during the campaign. I have discussed immigration reform with the President and the need to ensure that immigrants are put on a path toward fully participating and contributing to the California economy. It is important that we make sure immigrants enter the country the right way, and ensure that we do so without undermining important national security concerns. It is the right approach. Working with members of the California Congressional delegation and representatives from border states, I will undertake a bipartisan effort to ensure that the federal government meets its fiscal responsibility to California. As someone who came to the United States 35 years ago looking for opportunity, I understand the challenges immigrants face and I appreciate the work that the White House has done to address this important issue."

Arnold won California by opposing the Hispandering of Grayout Dufus. Now, he betrays the people who voted for him.

Arnold not only is a Hispanderer, we will find he also is very similar to the nazi-like Left in other ways. The only good news is, he's better than Bustamonte, darling of the Left, who used the 'n' word in a public speech.

Ahhhnold does read a bit naive. There's no "stick" in Bush's proposal to go along with the "carrot." I.e. the risks of staying fully "undocumented" will not be any worse than they were before. And there is definitely a tax advantage to going that route.

true, but politicians can win without bringing up the issue. it's not principled, but its better than semi-amnesty.

What's everybody whining about? Bush said from the beginning he was a compassionate conservative. You guys don't like the compassionate part?

The only good news is, he's better than Bustamonte,

I think you just hit the main plank for the GOP platform in '04.

"Vote Arbusto, he's better than Dean" (or whoever winds up representing the 'RATs).

You know, I think what really has the politicians scared is that the Mexicans are - for the most part - living in the "underground economy". In a lot of cases, they work for cash, pay no taxes, and don't want or need the politicians.

Frankly, I admire their initiative. The only thing I resent is if they don't pay their way at the local hospital.

Oh no. That means our immigration policy is being run by Maria.

Come on, people. It's not like Arnold and Bush are at the border handing out free green cards. What most of you fail to realize is that in California terms, Arnold's is an acceptable consensus position. It doesn't wash with the conservative end of the electorate, but Arnold's people knows that that's what sells in California's broad, mushy middle.

"Everybody vill haf zere free Green Cahd!

I have discussed immigration reform with the President and the need to ensure that immigrants are put on a path toward fully participating and contributing to the California economy.

There is a vast difference between immigrant and illegal immigrant.

It is important that we make sure immigrants enter the country the right way, and ensure that we do so without undermining important national security concerns.

One way to ensure that immigtans enter the country the right way (legally) is to STOP condoning illegal entry. Stop giving them a pass, and stop granting illegals amnesty under any guise.
