Email/Letter writing campaign against The President's plan for immigration
Myself

Posted on 01/07/2004 7:45:17 PM PST by Remember_Salamis

Has anybody started an email/letter writing campaign in response to the president's proposed immigration initiative?

We need to show the president that he can't take advantage of his conservative base.

Thank you, Texasforever! That question has been running through my head since Bush made the proposal, and I appreciate your input.

The H1B visa program. Ever heard of it? If so, let me ask you, do you think this was a good program? I am very interested in your response.

You didn't ask me but yes, the H1B visa program is a good program, it may have been abused but it is a good program.

A bold move by a bold President.

Can you explain it to us then? I'm serious, I would love to know the details of why this is so great. I am not kidding, I will listen with an open mind as you explain what it entails and how it is going to work.

Thanks in advance.

I will ask you just like I asked CWO Jackson, and this is not sarcastic:

I can't speak for everyone but I know our family has. We've sent e-mails but I'm also sending a hand written card thanking the President for taking a bold stand on a chaotic issue.

Lest we forget the other pertinent issues addressed by Dubya' to help maintain our sovereignty and status in the world.

Give the man some slack, he hasn't done us wrong yet, we are gaining back our prosperity and with a touch of honesty to boot and at the same time we are maintaining our freedoms by finally drawing a line in the sand to the terrorists. Good Gosh how quickly some forget what we had to face as a country throughout the '90's.

To coin a phrase, "we will prevail".

I have my doubts whether the Democratic party will however.

And what was so good about it?

It allowed companies to hire competent help when the labor market was short. Look, the H1B program was around long before all of the 100 grand a year IT super kids. It was used mainly for engineering and it worked well. The REAL reason the IT sector is in the pits in this country is the IT whiz kids were working in vaporware businesses and they priced themselves out of the real world when the bubble burst. I am amazed that conservatives believe they have some “right” to a job in a private sector environment. Business is in the business of making money NOT providing jobs. They are not even in the business of making anything, a business only makes things for the cold heartless reason of making a profit and making the largest profit they can make. If they have 2 people apply for a job, one the demands 100 grand and one that will accept 50 grand and do it just as well then that business has a fiduciary duty to the owners and share holders to hire the one that accepts 509 grand and citizenship or geographic location means anything as long as it is legal. Business has to be amoral and apolitical or it is bankrupted.

"It allowed companies to hire competent help when the labor market was short."--- If it worked the way it was designed, it would have been great. Funny how things changed once the cheap slave workers started pouring in.
"The REAL reason the IT sector is in the pits in this country is the IT whiz kids were working in vaporware businesses and they priced themselves out of the real world when the bubble burst." ---Mastercard, SBC , Bank of America etc... Are not vaporware business. Yet, these types of companies are currently displacing American workers with cheap foreign labor.
"I am amazed that conservatives believe they have some “right” to a job in a private sector environment." ---Very well. But someone applying for a job should not be discriminated against because he is an AMERICAN !!!
"Business is in the business of making money NOT providing jobs. I guess you will love it when the new "temporary" Mexican worker program is put into motion by our wonderful government. Big companies are going to have a field day, just like they did with the H1B visa program.

Well in fact, I have. How long has it been around? Who initiated it into existance? Did you lose your job to some Indian or Pakistani? Has this really effected your life? What did you do about it when it came out? Did you write your congressman? Did you weep and gnash your teeth? Have you done anything positive to rectify this? Oh yeah, that's right, you're gonna stay home or vote for some third party jackass whose only claim to fame is to ensure a Democrat victory, sort of like Washington State. Now THAT was genius voting out there. The point is, do something. This is not a law,nor an EO nor even a bill..it is just what it is, a suggestion, proposal. Do you think Clinton would have bothered to annouce this? or any ot the 9 dwarves or Hillary!? I think your head is in the right direction, just your heart is derailing it.

"Apparently we are part of the few who understand the legislative process involved here."

Okay, I'm a fairly good listener, please tell me where I am at fault. We have just gone through a failed economy created by eight years of liberal lies. We have a current unemployment problem that is slowly finding its way out of trouble with the spurred economy and the open invitation for the working base to expand in hopes of the manufacturing base to catch up. We have thousands of jobs scattered around the country that are not now, nor ever considered to be, family earning jobs that will keep the hungry not starved if they take them. We have a current illegal alien entry problem, in California alone, that equals the population of San Francisco every six months. And those are the ones we throw back! In remembering that the ones I just mentioned are illegals, then why would they have the honesty to want to lose the money in taxes when they can get it all right now? Why would they register when they are not capable of getting the jobs that can earn a living wage due to there not being near enough of them now and the illegals mostly not having enough education to qualify for a job at a major company? Remember, these people are coming from a country because they couldn't make it there. And you expect them to make it here? Whose going to pay for the housing they can't afford, or subsidize their low pay with welfare? Do you think waiving the fact that they are criminals just by their coming here is going to make them honest?

There is a system currently in place that can work if the borders are controlled. It will offer an opportunity for those that we wish into the country, to get here. It is legal immigration, and has been in place for a long time. Allowing the illegals to stay and openning the borders will be a larger burden on our economy and welfare systems than we can afford to have at this time.

This is nothing more than taking liberal issues away from the liberals prior to the election, just like medicare, perscription drugs, education, and campaign finance reform, for the purposes of getting re-elected. I didn't vote him in there to accomplish liberal issues like this. I voted him in to accomplish just the opposite, like getting the illegals using my money out of the country, not "grub-staking" them. You don't stop a leak by turning on the faucet.

Can you please show me what I don't understand and I will be glad to discuss it.

Thanks
Red

What about them?

They can't stop drugs from coming in.

But they're going to handle the shift from border crossings to coastal entry.

Right...

A two-year slow down in some sectors is hardly a "failed economy".

"I am sad to say that I feel a certain macabre relief knowing I will not be around to see the America I love in another 30 years."

"I am perfectly of your mind, that measures of great Temper are necessary with the Germans: and am not without Apprehensions, that thro' their indiscretion or Ours, or both, great disorders and inconveniences may one day arise among us; Those who come hither are generally of the most ignorant Stupid Sort of their own Nation, and as Ignorance is often attended with Credulity when Knavery would mislead it, and with Suspicion when Honesty would set it right; and as few of the English understand the German Language, and so cannot address them either from the Press or Pulpit, 'tis almost impossible to remove any prejudices they once entertain. Their own Clergy have very little influence over the people; who seem to take an uncommon pleasure in abusing and discharging the Minister on every trivial occasion. Not being used to Liberty, they know not how to make a modest use of it; and as Kolben says of the young Hottentots, that they are not esteemed men till they have shewn their manhood by beating their mothers, so these seem to think themselves not free, till they can feel their liberty in abusing and insulting their Teachers. Thus they are under no restraint of Ecclesiastical Government; They behave, however, submissively enough at present to the Civil Government which I wish they may continue to do: For I remember when they modestly declined intermeddling in our Elections, but now they come in droves, and carry all before them, except in one or two Counties; Few of their children in the Country learn English; they import many Books from Germany; and of the six printing houses in the Province, two are entirely German, two half German half English, and but two entirely English; They have one German News-paper, and one half German. Advertisements intended to be general are now printed in Dutch and English; the Signs in our Streets have inscriptions in both languages, and in some places only German: They begin of late to make all their Bonds nad other legal Writings in their own Language, which (though I think it ought not to be) are allowed good in our Courts, where the German Business so encreases that there is continual need of Interpreters; and I suppose in a few years they will be also necessary in the Assembly, to tell one half of our Legislators what the other half say; In short unless the stream of their importation could be turned from this to other colonies, as you very judiciously propose, they will soon so out number us, that all the advantages we have will not in My Opinion be able to preserve our language, and even our Government will become precarious." -- Source

You are a fool ! It is people like you who keep idiots like Orin Hatch in office. I hope one day a "temporary" worker walks into your workplace and your boss tells you to train them so they can replace you at your job. Then you will have some understanding of what the H1B program turned into. Just like any other "good" government program, it turned into a disaster, Over 500,000 ( conservative estimate ) programmers in this country have lost their jobs to these "imported" workers.
This great program was backed by "both" parties in our government !!!!!!!!!!!! And GW endorsed it as well!!!!!!!! And still endorses it !!! Even after hundreds of thousands of American workers were being pink slipped, they raised the limit on the number of H1B visa`s being issued. Finally, they have reduced the number back to its original estimate. And guess what? Companies are crying about it !! And lobbying to have the numbers raised again !! The fact that President Bush is in favor of basically the same program for Mexican migrant workers should be a big siren going off in your head !!! But with your head so deeply planted up GW`s butt, I guess you can`t here it!
Do you know how many people with expired H1B visa`s are currently in this country? When you find out, tell our government because they haven`t a clue. And yes, I have voiced my opinion to my government representatives on this issue in many ways. Problem is , unless you have truck loads of cash with you, they don`t listen. Out of all the emails and letters I have sent, and all the calls I have made, it did nothing to change the problem. After this coming election is over, I guarantee you, the numbers will be raised again ( definitely will happen if GW wins ). Voting for people who have an "R" next to their name, does not always mean they have the best interest of the country in their hearts. Something you have yet to understand.
