"Apparently we are part of the few who understand the legislative process involved here."

Okay, I'm a fairly good listener, please tell me where I am at fault. We have just gone through a failed economy created by eight years of liberal lies. We have a current unemployment problem that is slowly finding its way out of trouble with the spurred economy and the open invitation for the working base to expand in hopes of the manufacturing base to catch up. We have thousands of jobs scattered around the country that are not now, nor ever considered to be, family earning jobs that will keep the hungry not starved if they take them. We have a current illegal alien entry problem, in California alone, that equals the population of San Francisco every six months. And those are the ones we throw back! In remembering that the ones I just mentioned are illegals, then why would they have the honesty to want to lose the money in taxes when they can get it all right now? Why would they register when they are not capable of getting the jobs that can earn a living wage due to there not being near enough of them now and the illegals mostly not having enough education to qualify for a job at a major company? Remember, these people are coming from a country because they couldn't make it there. And you expect them to make it here? Whose going to pay for the housing they can't afford, or subsidize their low pay with welfare? Do you think waiving the fact that they are criminals just by their coming here is going to make them honest?

There is a system currently in place that can work if the borders are controlled. It will offer an opportunity for those that we wish into the country, to get here. It is legal immigration, and has been in place for a long time. Allowing the illegals to stay and openning the borders will be a larger burden on our economy and welfare systems than we can afford to have at this time.

This is nothing more than taking liberal issues away from the liberals prior to the election, just like medicare, perscription drugs, education, and campaign finance reform, for the purposes of getting re-elected. I didn't vote him in there to accomplish liberal issues like this. I voted him in to accomplish just the opposite, like getting the illegals using my money out of the country, not "grub-staking" them. You don't stop a leak by turning on the faucet.

Can you please show me what I don't understand and I will be glad to discuss it.

Thanks
Red

"We have just gone through a failed economy created by eight years of liberal lies."

A two-year slow down in some sectors is hardly a "failed economy".

Illegal immigration is an enormously complicated problem and I quite pleased that our president has addressed the elephant in the living room.

This says it better than I can. It is a reply on the Teamleader page of the President's website.

"I am head of the Republican Party here in El Salvador which gives me first hand knowledge of this issue and how it is percieved by foreign workers. George Bush is right on the mark and should be commended for taking this bold and controversial step to clean up the mess in the immigration system. In case no one noticed, the current system does not work, which is why there are 12 million undocumented workers in the US. The postings on here seem to be concerned about the cost of this iniciative and the burden on government resources but consider this: 1.) 12 million people will start paying taxes 2.) Workers will be paid minium wage, evening out the pay scale and giving more opportunity for US workers. 3.) 12 million more people will contribute to social security. 4.) If you commit a crime you lose your status...bye bye and you go home. 5.) If they do not have a job they cannot stay, this can be verified by social security and since they are documented workers we know who they are and they will have to return home. His policy does not include unemployment benefits. 6.) To renew your status after three years you will have to prove that you worked and paid taxes otherwise I am sure you will not get it renewed so where is the welfare in all of this?? 7.) Most foreign workers are looking for a job not a handout and most would prefer to go back to their countries so why not give them the opportunity to work in jobs nobody wants and GO BACK, instead of being forced to stay in the US and adding to the problem. 8.) Employers will only want to hire people who are ïn "the system" to avoid legal problems therefore it will force immigrants to sign up thus giving us much needed information about who they are and what they are doing in the US. 9.) Consider the cost of rounding everybody up and flying them home??? 10.) Everytime I get on a flight to Central America from the US, you and I, the US taxpayer are paying airfare to send them home!! With Bush's plan they can pick up the tab for that. Just wanted to jump in and give some food for thought."
