FOX POLL Immigration Reform
Do you agree with President Bush's plan to grant illegal immigrants 'temporary worker' status?

Go ahead and disagree.
I visited my father in the hospital last month in Miami (flew in from Cincinnati). Almost all of the nurses were Latina, as is my stepmother (who is from Venezuela and now an American Citizen). The nurse spoke in Spanish to my stepmother, then, thinking I was my stepmother son, gently chastized me for being like too many other Latinos born in the USA who don't bother learning Spanish!
From the earliest days of immigration, adults who came over did not always learn English, but their children did. You do not generally see third- and fourth-generation immigrants who don't speak English. It's the older folks who originally came over that still don't speak English.

My work product is knowledge, and an unskilled worker could simply not step into my shoes without years of education and experience. Im sure there was a time an orange picker was described as a skillful and experienced plucker of the *right* orange...
Anyone could step into my cubicle and ask people how they do their job and then document it for $12 an hour as opposed to my $40k/yr if the company could get away with it. Quality might suffer, but hell, they just SAVED a heap of money.

Vicente Fox makes me sick too. Why the h*ll is he on the radio? Shouldn't he be trying to govern Mexico? Errrrr...this whole situation is a mess and I don't think anything was solved today.

How about standing in the frozen food section of the grocery store and hearing an announcement (ad) over the loud speaker IN SPANISH!"¿Dónde está el baño?"

bush's sellout of America today just lost him the election.
The commies, socialists, progressives, and other assorted traitors here in Seattle are ecstatic.
What I want to say to the *&*%%$&$ bush would get me a visit from the USSS.

Almost all of the 1891-1920 immigrants had no interest in returning to their homeland. That isn't the case today. I live in NM. The overwhelming number of "migrant workers" in our area live in Mexico and work here. Almost all are paid in cash. They go to the grocery store, purchase money orders, and send them back to thier home in Mexico.
Workers that are paid cash do not pay witholding tax, FICA or Medicare witholding.

But this proposal makes companies prove that they can't find Americans to do those jobs.So they offer $1.34 an hour for a computer programming position and then whine that they can't find an American to do it. Bubba Bush to the rescue!
To: Bob Buchholz
It is the fault of the socialists that we are being overrun, not the immigrants illegal or otherwise. You're right. GWB is trying to do something constructive about this, and I think this is a good start at "reforming" the whole immigration mess, both for the "legals" and to control the "illegals".

Vicente Fox...that is.

Bush just changed the definition of amnesty! He is slick. No, his dishonesty in this regard has been long expected.
With all the liberal policies he has helped institute, I am starting to wonder who we voted for. Was it a conservative, or the lesser of two evils?

President Bush is not only attempting to reform immigraiton by legalizing the millions who are already here but doing it wisely in the economic sense.
What do you find so troublesome? That a Mexican will pick the lettuce that you are picking? Or maybe that a Guatemalan nurse will actually take care of you if you are sick?
To: Steel Wolf
"I'm not entirely sure about your point with posting the Posse Comitatus Act. Any military force on the planet is entirely within it's duty to secure the borders from non citizens attempting to enter. Any military force on the planet except for those of the United States Military. This is what the Posse Comitatus act is all about.
The Military deals in matters of Defense.
Illegal Aliens Break the LAW. We have all kinds of law enforcement agencies that are supposed to handle this problem.
The Military are by law not allowed to get involved in law enforcement unless some kind of National Emergency is declared.
Are you willing to live under Martial Law?
