FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ICDC TROOPS CONTINUE INDEPENDENT MISSION, TASK FORCE SOLDIERS HELP ECONOMY

FALLUJAH, Iraq – During the last 24 hours, the 82nd Airborne Division and subordinate units conducted 158 patrols, nine of which were joint patrols with Iraqis.

The 82nd Airborne Division and subordinate units also conducted three cordon and searches. During these operations 20 insurgents were captured. Entry was denied to 12 people at Trebil, all due to insufficient documentation.

In the 1st Brigade’s area, soldiers from the 304th Civil Affairs Brigade received a tip from a walk-up source about the emplacement of an improvised explosive device (IED) in downtown Ar Ramadi. Soldiers from the Florida Army National Guard responded to the report and heard two explosions. A search of the area was conducted, and the reported IED was subsequently cleared.

Iraqi Civil Defense Corps (ICDC) forces continued their first independent operation east of Ar Ramadi along Highway 10. The mission was to prevent enemy forces from emplacing IEDs and selling black market fuel along the highway.

Soldiers from 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR) conducted two cordon and searches of suspected foreign fighter camps along the Syrian Border. Four targets were captured to include a targeted individual. There were no Coalition casualties or damage to equipment during this operation.

On Jan. 4, Task Force “All-American” soldiers escorted 35 fuel trucks from Trebil to the Al Anbar Fuel Depot. Also, Task Force “All-American” employed 424 Iraqis and utilized 40 contracted trucks yesterday to help clear captured enemy arms.

"Soldiers from the Florida Army National Guard responded to the report and heard two explosions. A search of the area was conducted, and the reported IED was subsequently cleared."

They didn't say what the two explosions the soldiers heard were. Hopefully it was the IED builders.
