Flu Vaccine a Failure 2003!

Flu Vaccine Not Working--CDC Admits. What are Your Options?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had two choices when it came down to which flu formula to use for winter 2003. Should they stick with the same formula used last year in 2002, knowing that a new strain of the bug was developing? Or should they attempt to make a new vaccine that could possibly come with complications or delays and that could result in a shortage?

The first sign of the new flu bug showed up just two weeks before the committee was scheduled to meet. The scientists who track the flu had noticed a new strain was gathering mass. The overall decision to bring back the older version was decided on the fact that there wasn’t enough time to produce a new flu vaccine.

The committee met this past February and was told that the current vaccine might not work in protecting people from the new strain.

Even though the committee voted 17-1 to bring back last year’s version, they all have admitted that they made the wrong decision.

For the last 15 years I have taken my annual "rich" shot. So far, thank God, it has prevented me from becomming rich.

Gotta go now, I have an appointment to get my "alien" shot so that I won't be stolen by aliens. You know, they work too.

"I have never had a Flu shot since they came out years ago and I have never gotten the Flu."

Same for me and my family. As a lung cancer survivor, I'm supposed to be in a high-risk group, and also work in a skilled nursing facility. But, thank God, I've never gotten the flu, while co-workers who have had the shot have gotten very sick.

I haven't had a flu shot since leaving the Navy and have only had the flu once in the 15 years since.

A friend of mine is a nurse, got her flu shot then promptly came down with the flu. I talked to her on New Year's Eve - the poor dear still had a hacking cough and was expected to come in to work because the vast majority of the hospital staff had it worse than she.

Hillary and her trial lawyer buddies are destroying the vaccine industry. In 1993, it was an intiative lead by our conspiratorial "co-president" that set below market rates for government purchases of all vaccines, Canada-style.

From scores of manufacturers we are down to 2 flu vaccine makers, producing a sub-standard product. The liability lottery shysters are busy killing off what is left of this important industry.

A statement of complete ignorance.

Don't you know that anecdotal evidence is the same as scientific analysis if it is fortified by expressions of faith? (;>)

"Incubation period is the time elapsed between exposure to a disease organism and when symptoms and signs are apparent. The period may be as short as hours to as long as thirty years in the case of variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (mad cow disease)."

I got the flu shot two years ago. It was great! I was prone to pneumonia and did not get a thing.
Last year, we missed them at our church. Our home was a bag of germs. I had everything including mono at 42.
This year during my six year old's checkup, I was snowed and got the shot. Within a day, my eyes clouded up and my ears blocked. I called the doctor and was told that I must have caught the flu before the shot. For a month (no kidding) I had the symptoms and no one else in my house got them. Funny thing with a three year old in preschool, first grader in a different school and my hubby working. SOMEONE should have gotten this. My shoulder is still sore.

I will never get a flu shot again and I thank God every day that I was too chicken to live through the girls getting shots. I said I would send Daddy to get a shot and the girls could get them then. Needless to say, they never went.

That's interesting. I've had the flu shot almost every year for the past 10 years, and I've never had the flu. Go figure.

The last case of flu I had convinced me to get the flu shot every year and I haven't been incapacitated like that since. My dad had Alzheimers and never had the shot. My 4 kids and husband and I all get the shot. It has made us healthy in the face of lots of illness this winter. If the shot gave people the flu, there would be an enormous increase of death in elderly who are strongly encouraged to take the vaccine. Suspicion and fear exist on both sides of the political spectrum.

The overall decision to bring back the older version was decided on the fact that there wasn?t enough time to produce a new flu vaccine.

So basically, they arranged for a placebo to be produced and SOLD. I'll remember that next time I hear some "doctor" laughing when I tell them an herb (feverfew) cured me of having migraines.

This year's vaccine had three viruses that were covered. Unfortunately, 75% of this year's influenza is not covered by the vaccine. The virus mutated prior to reaching the US.

The math requires Congressional oversight.

It is already well known that 75% of the susceptible population needs to be immunized to successfully thwart the spread of the disease.

Making enough vaccine for only 1/3 rd of the country is not appropriate policy.

Your ideas are not correct. You may be doing "research", but your sources are suspect.

I am a board certified physician. Do not offer your brand of medical advice here. It could cost someone their life.

If you got sick less than 7-10 days after the vaccine, you were infected prior to the vaccination.

The virus incubates for about 7 days prior to manifesting symptoms and signs.

Yes, and it's a symbol of how much the Clintonites want power. They are so addicted to the "power" that they are willing to KILL and knowingly permit the DEATH of thousands in the process.

It's so sad to read the comments of naive people in this thread.

If you don't want to take a harmless vaccine, that's your decision. But, when you aren't medically trained, have not a lick of medical experience, and then offer "medical advice" couched as "public policy"; it's really really dangerous!
