Flu Vaccine Not Working--CDC Admits. What are Your Options?
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had two choices when it came down to which flu formula to use for winter 2003. Should they stick with the same formula used last year in 2002, knowing that a new strain of the bug was developing? Or should they attempt to make a new vaccine that could possibly come with complications or delays and that could result in a shortage?
The first sign of the new flu bug showed up just two weeks before the committee was scheduled to meet. The scientists who track the flu had noticed a new strain was gathering mass. The overall decision to bring back the older version was decided on the fact that there wasnt enough time to produce a new flu vaccine.
The committee met this past February and was told that the current vaccine might not work in protecting people from the new strain.
Even though the committee voted 17-1 to bring back last years version, they all have admitted that they made the wrong decision.

I have heard some authors state that there is a direct correlation of the number of flu shots one has and the incidence of Alzheimer's. This would be due to the aluminum and mercury that is put in every flu shot.
I could not agree more with his recommendations. I am fond of providing the following answer to people who ask me if they should get a flu shot.
I tell them "Only if they want to get the flu".

Interesting. I get the flu shot every year but usually still get sick. My doctor tells me that had I not taken the shot, it would have been much worse. Each year I say I won't and by the time October/November comes around, I'm the first one there. Are you a nurse/doctor?

Could I ask how old you are? I didn't think the flu vaccine was really for anyone but the young and old. Do most Americans across the age spectrum get a flu shot every year?
To: Prodigal Son
Do most Americans across the age spectrum get a flu shot every year? There are over 280 million people in the US. Various manufacturers make about 80 million doses of flu per year for the American market. Do the math!

I'm in the catagory to get the shot. As a matter of fact, I had back surgery in October and was advised go get a shot as soon as it was offered. I had to have someone drive me but I was one of the first.

Thanks for getting me straightened out there.

Ok, cool. The reason I asked was because my wife and I were having a discussion about this the other day and she asked what it was like in the States and I couldn't really say since it had been so long since I lived there. We always got a shot in the military but I suppose the considerations are different there.
Thanks.

I am not a doctor or a nurse, but I am a research junkie!!
I read stuff like the article just posted. The Center for Disease Control admitted themselves they screwed up.
Like most things in life you got to research both sides.
I would never get a flu shot, I am 47 yrs old. I have not had the flu in years AND even if I did I would fight it get over it and get better.
We are fearfully and Wonderfully made! The flu has not taken God by surprize.
When I was young, we got the flu once a year, got sick and got better. That's what I remember!!

After Muttly fell for Swine Flu scare...he has refused these shots..and has been fine, when all around him were sick.
Paul C. Bragg taught me to not believe in colds, or the flu...and I have been fine ever since.
Go figure.

Of course, moving the meeting up some wasn't practical. /sarcasm
People in our circle who had the flu shot have definitely not been less likely to get the flu; they do get a noticeably milder case, however.
This falls under the "it's better to do something than nothing, even if it's wrong" category.

got the shot, and I haven't got the flu yet.....
