"They think Planned Abortionhood is a good, kind organization, dedicated to telling young girls to have the baby, not have abortions. Yea...suuuuurrrrrreeee!"
Ack! and double ack! they are confused, to an extreme degree! I had no idea the propaganda worked this well. Cripes!
Oh, well, enjoy your new years luncheon all you So/No Carolina freepers. Wish I could be there too! We had a nice bash up north here in NYC last week, much fun. I hope you all enjoy, and post some pics here later, if you'd be so kind!

Also off topic, how did the place come to be called Pee Dee?. The name is familiar to me only because there is a small town in Oregon called Pee Dee. It's a tiny place near Dallas and Rickreall. I worked in Rickreall for a number of years and the locals were always making jokes about the breeding (or more to the point, inbreeding) of the inhabitants of Pee Dee. Don't have any knowledge of it myself, never having actually been to the place, but the joke was there.
Looks like the name in SC refers more often to the region than the town. Read a bit more on the web but it's stuff I suppose y'all already know.
Anyway, have a good lunch.

I have no idea how it got it's name but there is a Pea river in Alabama.
Yes it is spelled pea, not pee.

The name PeeDee apparently comes from an Indian word and there are two Pee Dee rivers, the Little PeeDee and the Great PeeDee. There is no town that I know of by that name in the state but there is a PeeDee community just east of Florence on the way to Marion. The PeeDee region of the state is all the counties which drain into the PeeDee river system.

My sincerest apologies!
I got held up on the other side of Florence and was late getting over to the restaurant. When I got there they told me that some people had asked about a meeting but had then left.
Since I expected a low turnout I hadn't bothered to reserve their meeting room.
I can't tell you how embarrassed I am.

I had gotten there about 11:55 and hung around till 12:15 and no one else had inquired while I was there. I also looked in both meeting rooms - empty. Don't feel bad, it would have been a lunch crowd of two. Next time we reserve a booth. hahhaha On second thought, I should have told the manager there I was attending a Republicans for Dean meeting and asked him where the big crowd was.

I got there about 12:10 (after driving TWO hours), cruised around the place and saw nobody I knew. Sat by the front door for about 10 minutes, still nobody.
I asked the cashier if she knew of anybody there from FR. She said, "There was one guy that came in at 12, hung around for about 5 minutes and left." So I left.
Pardon me if I'm less than enthusiastic the next time one of these is planned.

Hook up with the NC FReepers next time. They always have a good turnout and beat the tar out of anyone who doesnt show up.

Interesting, I was sitting in that front lobby till about 12:15 but my watch could be a couple minutes quick. In fact, I had a lengthy conversation with the guy out front doing the wallpapering and got some good tips on some upcoming wall work I need to do. I was watching to see if anyone asked the hostess about a meeting and no one ever did. Too bad we didnt connect but I wouldnt recognize anyone since I have never seen any of you..... Did you sit inside or out in your car?

Not to belabor the point but the cashier who thought I was only there for 5 minutes is full of it. I talked to the hostess when I came in, walked to each end of the building to check the two meeting rooms, and then came back and sat on the wooden bench there for ten minutes. Several families came in but no singles at all. As I said, I struck up a few questions with that worker there and got his business card etc. It was 12:15 when I departed. Nice sunny day, I figured I had missed the cancellation.
That is a shame you drove that far. But I wouldn't be too hard on Swamp Fox, these things happen...

Dang, that would have rocked.
Anyhoo, I was in Atlanta watching Clemson cram the football down the throat of yet another "physical SEC" team.
