It might be used to haul the Demorat's fake ballots out to the dump also. I think the cops should check out the statewide Demorat offices.

Bet you're the only one on FR that has a clue about my screen name! Agree about the "key in the ignition" thing. Only thing I was suprised about in the story is that whoever stole the dump truck didn't have to wake anyone up!!! LOL

A DOT Truck ???? LOL....If a team of four terrorists decided to use this truck automatically one would hold a shovel, two would supervise and one would sleep in the cab....
And nothing would be accomplished for two weeks....
That reminds me; if you guys down in Florida see a group in a DOT truck actually working, call in the clans on them.

Maybe some college students are going to use it for a new year's prank .. let's hope so. I wonder how strong a floor has to be to hold a 30,000 lb truck up?

A dump truck full of almanacs would set us at Elmo alert or higher

Ahhh yes, I fondly recall the days of my youth when we'd steal dump trucks for joyriding... as if... Had a friend from R E Lee HS in Houston who stole a tank in 66 or 67 and drove around a local shopping center until too many cops showed up.

Normally, heavy equipment uses very few different "keys". Caterpiller keys work in all Caterpillers, Deere keys work in all Deere equipment, etc.
With a handfull of keys, you can operate nearly all heavy equipment.

actually a number of years ago the IRA used dumptrucks which appeared to be full of sand to launch artillery type rockets at a few places: the rockets and associated timing and ignition gear were embedded in the sand at a precalculated angle so all the driver had to do was park in the right place, facing the right direction, and then get out of there before the timer started the rocket's ignition sequence.
then of course, if one considers tamping and ballast, one could also place a large quantity of explosive with appropriate detonators and so forth on the bed of a dumptruck and use metal or plywood sheets to cover it such that the sand on top of it all would ac as tamping to focus the blast in a particular direction...
oh yes, all sorts of interesting things one can do with dumptrucks....

I am sure that a imaginative person could utilize a dump truck for more than dumping.
The prime threat we face here in the U.S. would not be so bold as artillery or mortars.
It would be more likely a truck or car bomb utilizing nitrates for the bang.
Think U-haul.
They would not need to return the keys so why steal a marked county open bed dumper unless they needed engine parts or what may have been in the truck.(sand?)
My quess is that hundreds of trucks have been ripped off during the same time period.
I think this is likely a false alarm.

yeah, well I wonder a little bit about just how desperate for something showy bin ladin and company are becoming. They made big noise about ramadan and that fizzled, then they made big noise about Christmas/Hannukah and that fizzled, now they've made big noise about the New Year and if that fizzles methinks they're going to try for something with some razzle dazzle simply because they're losing credibility with their own supporters... that's why I mentioned the IRA bit...they did it merely to prove they could do it....

My guess is that they will continue their BS for many years to come.
The only way it will stop is if the Muslims at home stop supporting them and start turning them over to the powers that be.
Since they are doing the bidding of a large support group, I do not see that happening any time soon. We will be watching our backs for at least a generation.

It could have been worse. You could have dreamed about Rita announcing that Madonna was Time's Person of the Year.

Any large vehicle like that could have Homeland Security implications, but there are other possibilities as well, Gaylord said. It could be kids joyriding in it. It could be stolen for financial gain to be used on the black market. At this point, we cant speculate on the exact reason.
He said, after providing two speculations. Who is "we", Lindbergh?
