S. Florida teen girls discovering `bisexual chic' trend

A group of teenagers is gathered at a party. Music's playing; smuggled booze is flowing. Two girls grin sheepishly at each other as a crowd goads them on.

Finally, the teens relent, rewarding their audience with some mouth-on-mouth action.

It's not an unusual scene, according to South Florida high school students, who say the newest trend for teen girls isn't wearing the latest designer jeans or driving a cool car, but declaring themselves to be bisexual.

Most of the young women that I have listened to say they are "bi". Singles websites are filled with profiles of women seeking other women "and no men!

I always think it's kind of amazing how the masses of people will do pretty much anything to follow what they think is a fad. They'll go into deep debt if they think it makes them look cool to drive a Lexus that they can't afford, they'll pierce their noses, their tongues, cover themselves with tattoes, they'll involve themselves in homosexual acts if they are told it's the in thing to do.

Plus with all the 'metrosexual' men you see around --- what's the difference if a girl finds herself kissing one of them or another girl?

You're right. Madonna is a definite has-been --- her audience -- what's left of it is the same age group as Cher's. Madonna was only jumping into what she thinks is a current fad --- like she always does to make it look like she's keeping up. Probably the same for Spears and Aguilera --- they're quickly facing the has-been point of their careers and desperately need something to keep them in the news.

One of the problems is that one jerk can poison the attitudes of dozens of women every week. There is sort of a "force multiplier" effect where one bad guy does far more damage than the good guys do good.

Yes, it's been a steady drumbeat of "gay this, gay that" for years. For something that's supposed to be nobody's business and no big deal, we keep having it rammed down our throats.

I guess we just have to go with whatever helps the gay-rights agenda, even if it's self-contradictory.
