WASHINGTON (CNN) --Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean's rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination lashed out Monday at his criticism of party chief Terry McAuliffe for failing to exert the leadership needed to prevent a bloody primary battle.
Dean is the Democratic front-runner in recent polls nationwide and in New Hampshire, which hosts the party's first presidential primary next month. He has joked about "picking buckshot out of my rear end" in previous campaign appearances, but attacks from his fellow Democrats have begun to dominate headlines and overshadowed his recent policy speeches.

Craig Smith, Lieberman's campaign manager, said Dean's criticism "is like the mad cow calling the herd rabid." LOL, I wonder if Craig Smith visits FR?

I just love to watch liberals attack each other. Should be fun to watch the Dems rally around Dean if he gets the nomination. Juicy stuff...

This is getting really fun to watch!

Dean has an ego even larger than Bill's or Hillary's. Everyone can just accept what he sees as inevitable, skip the primaries, and name him Democrat Party's presidential candidate right now.The guy is scary. His own party is going to hate him before this is over.

Hi Jim, How are ya hon. Hope you liked the Reagan hat.
I sure hope that Howie can hang on until he gets the nomination, although if he doesn't win he might take his football and go home.

The following appears on the
Dean for America website:
"I just read on an earlier thread someone comparing Howard Dean to Jesus Christ. I agree!! DFA is more like a religious calling than a political campaign. And how could we support the Democratic nominee if it is not Gov Dean? That would be like switching religions. If Gov Dean is denied the nomination, I will worship Him even more."

Joe is right about one thing...Karl Rove is going to clean Deans clock........slice and dice him.
Every comment his rivals are making now will be woven into RNC attack ads come late summer early fall.

I originally hoped Dean would be the nominee of the Dems because he would be obliterated by Bush. But an even better option is Dean isn't the nominee and runs as an independent. If Nader throws his hat into the ring, Bush might carry all 50 states (he'd probably still lose DC, though).

I think your analysis is right and I agree with you. I am beginning to think if Dean doesn't get the nod, he will run 3rd party maybe with Nader. Now wouldn't that be a pair. They would take every leftist vote there is which would be great for our side.
