That's a pretty stupid remark!. Police officers are NEVER happy at the death of ANYONE, especially kids. These kids stole a car and were criminals on the run. How were the police supposed to know who was in the car, or why they were running? It's tragic that these young lives ended; however, they died because of THEIR OWN ACTIONS.

It is a true tragedy, with 7 families grieving. However, I don't blame the cops.

What part of the words "stolen" and "high pursuit" don't you understand?

These teens broke the law more than once, albeit I am sorry they lost their lives.

The car was stolen and being driven erraticly. I suppose if the car had caused an accident you would blame the cops too.

carload of dangerous criminals

Car thieves usually are dangerous criminals. It sounds like they had very little regard for anyone's life.

Naw, they have a hard time collecting traffic fines from corpses.

Any way seems to me you were right in a sense, they were dangerous criminals, car theft is a crime, and they were certainly a danger to themselves.

Have you ever been hit by a carload of teenagers driving recklessly?

Pursue and arrest them every time. It is better their stupid behavior cost them than me or that little girl walking down the sidewalk with her mom.

Too many die because of teens behind the wheel.

You said "I hope the police are happy they gave a high speed persuit of this carload of dangerous criminals."

I ask, "How were the police to know they were just kids?" They did steal a car, who knows what else they might have done.

So let me get this straight.

Your statement appears that you are finding fault with the police officer that attempted to investigate a driver that is weaving.

So far the only thing that the officer did that was "wrong" was to attempt a traffic stop.

Now the teenagers on the other hand were
1. Driving underage
2. The above obviously means without a license.
3. After curfew
4. Stolen vehicle
5. No seat belts.
6. Speeding
7. God only know what else they had done or were doing.

Do you need a reality check or a brain check?

The driver was seen driving in an erratic way...

You're right. The police should've assumed that the driver was just being silly in a stolen car. After all, if they'd known it was just a bunch of teens with no harm in mind, they could've just explained that to the loved ones of anyone the car thieves might've crashed into all by themselves. It's not the driver's fault at all--just ask the driver's father.

Let me see... The police should have let the car pass ....knowing it was stolen, then later down the road the kids run over some old person or a child and the police would then be accused of letting a stolen
vehicle....I guess the cops can't win...either way the cops would be wrong...me thinks the police did the right thing

I was once a stupid kid that was joy-riding in a my friends dads car. He had "borrowed" it while his dad was on vacation, I snuck out with him in the middle of the night and ended up totalling his dads car after I rolled it into a ditch going 70 mph. I was 16 without a license. My parents did NOT raise me to do that, I made my own bad choices. Just like those kids did, only I was lucky enough to only have horrible whip lash and my friend escaped with seven staples in his head. I wish a cop WOULD have caught me when I was going 100 mph on the freeway. The car wouldn't have been totalled and we wouldn't have been hurt. I'm just lucky that I rolled it when I did too, because two minutes later a family in a minivan came driving by and called an ambulance for us. THANK GOD FOR THAT COP THAT CHASED THOSE KIDS BEFORE THEY KILLED SOMEONE ELSE. (I'm 19 now and hopefully know better)

I'm happy to see that you recognize that a carload of auto thieves driving erratically are dangerous criminals. I'm glad my law abiding children were not in the area to be threatened by their criminal action.

I guess the solution, according to you, is to just let dangerous drivers keep on driving dangerously.... right?

Criminals with safety on their minds do not lead police on a high speed chase ,through areas where innocent children and law abiding citizens live and drive.

I am sorry for the deaths of these kids, but it is nothing they did not bring upon themselves.

If a LEO spots a car zipping down the highway at 80-100 mph and weaving erratically at 12:30 at night during the holiday season, is it not reasonable for said LEO to logically conclude that the person behind the wheel might have been hitting the bottle a little too hard?

I wish a LEO had spotted a certain Chevy S-10 pickup truck travelling at a high speed and weaving erratically on a May evening in 1988, before Larry Mahoney slammed his truck into a church bus full of kids and killed 27 and injured 30 others. When a LEO goes on a high-speed chase like this, usually they are not doing it for kicks or for any other reason than to try and prevent another Carrolton Bus Crash.
