[history]
WASHINGTON, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- It was the eighth assassination attempt on President Pervez Musharraf since he seized power in Pakistan in October 1999 -- and the second in 11 days.
By his own reckoning, an estimated 1 percent of Pakistan's 150 million people are extremists, which is local patois for Islamist fanatics who would love to see Musharraf dead and the country in chaos.

I toy with that notion a lot myself. If Cheney stepped down after the election, Dubya gets to nominate a Veep and the Congress confirms so his pick should come off without too much of a hitch. I couldn't see the Senate dems dragging their feet like they do with the judges- it's just a matter of security (you have to have a Veep in case something were to happen to the POTUS).
I've read recently that Condi won't be back in as NSA though. So it will be interesting to see what she does when she steps down (assuming she does).

My, my, the big, black pot of the Middle East continues to boil with things most foul....
Pay close attention in the months ahead, kiddies. We're here right on the Free Republic fifty-yard line; things they make movies of in Hollyweird, yet the probability in real life is going to further extremes.
Yikes!!

I hasten to add, that we desperately need to quadruple our C-17 aircraft production, not to mention helicopter production and crews, maintenance, support personnel and logistical support personnel training.

Do a little more math....1.2 billion muslims on the planet. If only 1/10 of 1% believe in the extreme aspects of the religion that makes 1,200,000 suicide bombers.
A moderate muslim is one who doesn't pull the trigger...himself.

The Jihadis would rather turn this planet into a nuclear-burned cinder than watch the decadent West triumph and Islam wither. They will do all they can to destroy us, and we will need to render them powerless or destroy them first.

Too bad that's not true. About 25% of the enemy combatants at GitMo are white Australian/German/british/French.
The growing number of muslims in France is not due to immigration only. There is a high rate of conversion.
islam is growing and at war in Malaysia, Africa, China, Thailand, Philipines, EU, ME, etc...There is (unfortunately) no muslim look.

One event may wind up tied to the other, so it might come off simultaneously.
Of course, an invasion of Saudi Arabia may not be necessary, with the U.S. being in Iraq.

Using moron liberal math, that's a tiny fraction and hardly worth talking about. That's just one and a half million killers. Not all that much...

So multiply that puny figure by 150 and you're closer to the ballpark. Make that 180,000,000. No biggie.

I say we need to dump some serious money into building up UAV's and put the video game generation to use.
