Democrats Play Game of "Follow The Loser"
ViewpointJournal ^ | December 28, 2003 | David Flanagan

Chronicling the continuing disintegration of the Democratic Party has been interesting. As I've said in the past, you never know whats going to happen to them next. Well, last Monday, the front running Democratic presidential nominee, Howard Say Anything Dean came out with this whopper:

"The truth is, Americans are no safer from these serious threats than they were the day before Saddam Hussein was captured,” he said. “We are no safer today than the day the planes struck the World Trade Center."

Okay, so Dean is saying that over two years later, after two wars, countless raids, the arrest of thousands who have been implicated with direct and/or indirect support of terrorist organizations, the creation of a massive new organization designed to help the various intelligence services in this country to FINALLY share information, the arrest of Saddam Husain, and much more, and we are STILL NO SAFER TODAY? And this is the Democratic party’s front-runner?

Well, if Dean is correct, then I guess we should just give up right now and all convert to Islam. No offense to followers of this world faith, but I just assume that nothing short of our total conversion or total destruction will satisfy the bloodthirsty terrorists who have chosen to pervert this religion in order to justify murdering innocent men, women, and children.

If Dean is correct, then the only way that I can think to survive is to disband the federal government and all state and local governments and convert to an Islamic state ourselves. Sorry to those of you who don’t like this, but I guess we’ll just have to shoot you if you don’t convert, which is a popular practice in some Islamic countries.

And for those in Hollywood, CA, you might want to consider moving to another country, because fundamentalists are very likely to throw you in jail first. You see, conservative Christians are not the only ones who are concerned with the constant barrage of sexually explicit, overtly violent, programs you have been sending out across the globe. Unlike conservative Christians, however, the kind of Islamic fundamentalists who are responsible for 9/11 and many other atrocities are not the kind of people who will write articles and organize boycotts. Instead, these are the kind of folks who would see to it that you never saw the light of day again in your life, however long that might be. So, as you get ready to vote for Howard Dean in early November, 2004, you might want to remember the fact that Osama bin Laden likely hates all of you as much as he hates George W. Bush himself.

One quick note. I realize that not all Democrats like Dean; and certainly there are many conservatives in Hollywood who have been incredibly supportive of the war on terror. I don’t mean to paint everyone with a broad brush, but I do mean to paint a realistic picture of the kind of madness that I currently see emanating from the front runner of your party’s presidential nominees! Okay?

It seems to me that the frustration of close to twelve years of party decline, the popularity of a president who won a heart-breakingly close election in 2000, and some incredibly narrow-minded and short-sighted leadership within the DNC, has driven many Democrats to abandon all sanity. And supporting Howard Say Anything Dean, the man who loves to tell people of the rumor that the President knew of the 9/11 attacks BEFORE the occurred, is insane.

Will some of these angry Democrats come to their senses? I’m not holding my breath. It seems to me that Democrats have developed a very bad habit of playing a game I like to call, “Follow The Loser.” You find someone who is willing to say and do extreme things, and you follow that person. Want some examples:

Bill Clinton - A man who could never seem to get away from scandal. Though, in my opinion, a far better President than the last Democrat, Jimmy Carter, scandal followed President Clinton even after he left office.

Hillary Clinton - Though she seems to be doing well as a U.S. Senator, her reaction to the Monica Lewinsky scandal was to publicly accuse conservatives of a “vast right wing conspiracy.” Also, lets not forget that Senator Clinton was a key figure in the Clinton administration’s attempt to socialize health care in this country, which played a major role in the 1994 election sweep that removed Democratic majorities from the House and the Senate.

Tom Daschle - A leader for quite some time in his party, his reaction to the election of George W. Bush was to blindly oppose him in every single thing he could, even to the point of changes his stance on a number of issues, including partially privatizing Social Security. It was perhaps his leadership, if you could call it that, which allowed Republicans to reverse a historic election trend during the 2002 mid-term cycle and actually GAIN seats in both the House and the Senate.

Terry McAuliffe - Hand-picked by President Clinton to lead the Democrats back to prominence, Mr. McAuliffe has been a disaster for his party. His style of attack politics has proven worthless in producing gains for his party. Even worse, his party is too paralyzed to recognize their mistake and remove him. Mr. McAuliffe may be a successful fundraiser, but he’s a lousy politician.

I could go on, but I think you get the point. The Democratic Party is one which today stands in shambles, with such internal unrest and dissent that it has brought them to this point; the point where a man like Howard Dean can say just about any angry, hateful thing he wants and STILL become his party’s front-running candidate for the 2004 election.

The angry left has its angry leader... And I can’t wait to hear what the guy will say next.

Not much of an achievement.

The media have been doing their best to protect Dean. Can you imagine what it is going to be like once he gets the nomination? They will have to show him. And he will not play in Peoria. Howard Dean is the live incarnation of Charles Emerson(?) Winchester (the third?) from the old MASH series. He is an arrogant, snobbish elitist. Even the beast is more charming. Average Americans will be repelled by him. And this does not even take into consideration his kook left policies!

Dean will win big in Santa Monica and the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Paint the rest of the country red.

Can't wait to watch him explain his "confederate flag" remark to the congregants in those black churches -- or his "bike path" Congregationalist conversion to the folks in those Southern Baptist churches.

Kudos on a great article! Although I think we should be BEGGING Howie to keep shooting his mouth off (and his party's chances in the foot). "C'mon, Howie! Let's hear more of your policies and plans, pretty please! We're all ears! You're going to talk about God in the South? Tell us more."

Thanks for your comments. Fortunately for us, we won't have to beg Dean to continue mouthing off like a shotgun with a hairpin trigger. What can I say, the guy is fun to watch.

Yep, that about describes them. The funny thing is, they are so wrapped up in their hatred they can't even see it.

You're welcome. I guess one of the more amusing things in all this is to watch the angry desperation on the faces of the other candidates as they watch "their" party being hijacked by this looney-tunes excuse for a candidate, and watch "their" president-in-exile, Albore, endorse the one guy certain to tank the party in 2004. It's almost delicious.

He's also been crowing about his "fiscal conservatism," so it will also be fun to watch him explain why it is that he brought in Vermont's very first property tax (1997) or why he kept boosting taxes on businesses in that state. If he stays true to form, he'll lose his temper and change the subject.

Clinton??? a far better President than the last Democrat

I humbly beg differ.

One's a profligate womanizer, a traitor selling this country down the drain while getting "serviced" in the Oral Orifice, etc. etc. etc. ad infinitum...the list is endless.

The other is a sanctimonious "useful idiot" of a fool who should stick to peanut farming and spare us his meddlesome diatribes on foreign policy.

My list of five worse presidents in US history includes:

1. Clinton

2. Carter

3. FDR

4. LBJ

5. Truman

And they all have one thing in common (well, maybe more than one).

I would prefer to have him a little quieter right now. If not, he might not get the nomination.

Then we would miss out on the fun of watching him implode when going toe to toe with Bush.

You forgot Sorelooserman, Algore. Algore, abbeted by the media, keeps popping up, reinventing himself will democrates looking up to him! He couldn't even hold his home state (was it D.C. or Tennesee?) even though the endorsed Veep of his party.

The next clear looser is Howard Dean who needs the James Watt shot in the foot award, daily. Besides saying he would break up media conglomerates based on ideology (abolishing the freedom of the press), suggest to Americans not to vote on pricipal (not on God, Gays or Guns), but his latest gaffe on Osama, makes him an obvious Bin Landen with Looserman written in Scarlet on his forhead.

Next is John F'ing Kerry, so obsessed with his image that he tries to Algore into Motorcycleman. He tries to be anti-war at the same time repeating, ad nauseum, that he is a 'Vietnam vet'. What a Joke.

Behind Kerry is Gehbhart, who like Kerry and Dean, wants to Mondale us with a Tax increase (repeal the tax cuts). He promised us Hillarycare with premium increases (just like she disasterously did). With Dean and Kerry going down in flames, he is the most likely Democratic candidate to loose all fifty states.

And finally the wicked witch herself, who goes into Afganistan and Iraq and criticises the commander to his troops! Arafat's wife's kisser is more shrill than chalk screaching on a blackboard. She's got the press under the cover in bed with her, praying for her to come out and be the chief looser of the party. All they have to do is put her on the campaigne trail and it is assured.

The funniest thing is how the press continues to carry water for all these loosers, loosing viewers daily (the exception being Fox for obvious reasons). The press is the biggest looser of the bunch. Candidates come and go, but a bad repution (read suck-up to democrat artists) for the press may be permanent.

My prayers are answered, the Dems and press are stuck with the Albatross of Bill Clinton and his legacy. Watching all these loosers is delightfully absurd.

so it will also be fun to watch him explain why it is that he brought in Vermont's very first property tax (1997)

Let's be clear on this one. Vermont had a property tax all along but it was collected and used at the town level.

Under Dean, after a Vermont Supreme Court ruling, the state began to impound the school portion of the property tax, which the towns collected, and then re-apportioned it to the towns.

This will likely lead to a revolt in a few years
