Tri-State NY NJ CT Freeper Holiday Party - 12/28/2003 - Photos & All the Dirt ;)
Tri-State Chapter ^ | 12.28.2003 | Tri-State Chapter & Guests

A fantastic time was had by all who showed up to party with us at Annie Moore's from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. today. I'm tired and have been working on a big batch of photos, so I'll let everyone else tell the story of the fun.

Sorry I couldn't get in from CT, but I spent the day sick in bed with flu (despite a vaccination).

Annie Moore's looks like my kind of place.

The usual suspects from DC showed up I see.

The restaurant we had last year was much more cozy and personable as was the service. Sadly they are no longer open for business I hear. They were right near WTC. The room this year was a bit large for the amount of people we had so we were all over the place.

Will start our restaurant hunt earlier next year : ))

If anyone has any restaurant suggestions send me a link and I will check them all out : )

We also have pondered an open bar and perhaps a 4 hour party.

SUGGESTIONS PLEASE : ))

We had the cake delivered this year instead of an extra 5 bucks per person for the pub desserts.

(Next year we'll get there earlier!)

Aha! So, I wasn't the only one who had difficulty getting there at 1PM. Maybe the next time our year-end party is on a Sunday it could start later?

Moran's near the WTC is no longer in business? If so, that's a shame! The young woman at Annie Moore's who was our bartender, bus person, waitress, etc. seemed to do a fine job yesterday, filling all those roles.

Moran's is very much in business and doing fine during the week. They are no longer open weekends, as the tourist trade has dropped off.

I liked the attitude at Annie Moore's. The bartender kept disappearing, and that was kind of annoying, but they did not obnoxiously come around and remind people it was 4 o'clock, as the waitresses a Moran's did. They let us hang around for a good long time.

We can make it 2 to 5, or 2 to 6, next year if that is better for most people. (Race, not you. LOL) We try to have some events on Sundays so everyone can come to some of them.

One of the options we are considering is a slightly smaller room. This one was 50 minimum, which is why we ran short with all the no-shows. (Ahem. You are going to hear from me soon, O ye of little faith.)

HUMM, Firebrand, I thought you said they were closed on weekends and then someone else unrelated to FR told me they are closed completely now. HUMMM. Will have to check that out.

Our poor waitress yesterday was running around quite a bit. Last year we had several if you recall and they served the food etc. Moran's was filling up by the time we left so I guess they had to start pushing us out to make more business. I guess I am partial to Moran's because it was so quaint! It did not appear that they were going to need the downstairs room at Annies as the upper room was not fill when we left around 445.

Keep the suggestions coming.

That's a shame if Moran's had to close. They got a nice break for being in the WTC area, but I guess it wasn't enough. It's a very quaint place, as it used to be a chapel.

One big difference this year is that it was buffet. That meant we didn't need all those servers, and also we got to go back for seconds and could sample more than one dish.

By the way, the cake was from Veniero's, an old establishment on the Lower East Side.
