The Violence of Chuck E. Cheese
Milwaukee Journal Sentinel online ^ | Dec 26, 2003 | unknown

More than 40 times this year, police have been called to investigate incidents at an establishment, but it's not your ordinary problem-plagued gin mill.

It's Chuck E. Cheese, the pizza, games, and birthday party paradise adored by children. But Chuck E. Cheese has become, at least for some adults, a place where the frenzy of Skee Ball, pizza, alcohol, and manic children translates into emotional overload.

"The majority of the problems come from the adults, family members and friends who are there for the birthday parties", town police SGT Imley said. "It's not the kids".

Anyone heard Tim Wilson's "Chucky Cheese Hell"?

I got combat training from overseas

Now I'm a bouncer at the Chucky Cheese

But I think I'd rather spend a year in jail

Than another afternoon in Chucky Cheese Hell

Momma drives Chipper to the Chucky Mall

and watches him waller in some plastic balls

The band sucks and the pizzas cold

And you eat it with a slobering 4 year old

Chucky Cheese Hell

I'm in Chucky Cheese Hell

Squalling younguns and a skeeball bell

In Chucky Cheese Hell

Lined up out the door like the Stones are in town

Ain't enough Chucky Ass Whooopings to go round

In Chucky Cheese Hell

I did two tours of duty in Vietnam

Fighting VC and breathing Napalm

But they couldn't torture me half as well

As those litte birthday %&^$@ at Chucky Cheese Hell

Chucky Cheese Hell

I had a friend who managed one of those CC's.

Mr. S2R is in the restaurant management biz and has been talking about applying at Chuck E. Cheese for awhile. "They're a great company to work for" he says. I think I'll save him this thread.

I don't want to have to set one foot in that joint or eat that crap pizza.

For me it's hard to blame these markers of social decline on a children-oriented restaurant, no matter how bad the damn pizza is.

The salient truth. However, attending a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese is an experience that tests one's mettle.

It's a completely horrid, loud and aesthetically painful place. One of my children was invited to a party there some years ago....once.

Chuck E. Cheese is OK. The trouble is caused by his little brother Dick.

And his little sister, Susie Cream.

Quit sniffing your dog!

They got a 12-step program for that now.

This restaurant is in a rich suburb.

Many of the people who patronize it drive out from the inner city.

It is a recipe for culture clash.
