Dean Supporters Cheer Remark Calling for Fair Trial of Osama bin Laden

Apparently pleased that their "foot in the mouth" candidate spoke what was on their minds all along, Howard Dean's supporters on the internet cheered and welcomed his insane remark that Osama bin Laden deserves a fair jury trial before his guilt can be determined.

Speaking to a newspaper in New Hampshire today, Howard Dean came down strongly on the side of Osama, and insisted on a fair trial for him. He claimed to have not been convinced of Osama's guilt, although he had no problem believing in outrageous conspiracy theories and lies about President Bush.

To his cuckoo supporters, this was heaven. In one fell swoop, Dean solidified his support among the Islamic community in this country, and once again, was honest enough and foolish enough to say what was on hs mind all along: What happened on 9/11 was not Osama's fault, but, as his to be VP was implying, Bush's fault.

Here is a sampling from his supporters:

************************************************************************************************** If Osama bin Laden should be summarily executed (perhaps based largely on George Bush's lies), then what punishment should be accorded George W. Bush, who has done far more to hurt America and other nations than Osama bin Laden has and is, in my opinion, a far more disgusting person than Osama bin Laden?

Keep in mind, also, that millions of people around the world worship bin Laden as a hero. Relatively few would shed tears over Saddam Hussein, but executing Osama would create a martyr more powerful than the Pentagon can handle.

*****************************************************************

The BEST way to deal with Usama bin Laden is to put him on trial in the Hague. That way, evidence can be presented and heard, the trial itself can be public, and there will be NO DOUBT among reasonable people as to whether he was railroaded. Among other things, this avoids turning UBL into a martyred hero.

************************************************************************

The phrase is "presumed innocent" is a foundational premise of our formerly proud legal traditions. It applies to ALL humans, including potential murderers, rapists, thieves, and terrorists.

Usama bin Laden deserves no less of a trial than Timothy McVeigh.

**********************************************************************

Dean could also point out that Bush has never given us any proof that UBL was behind 9/11.

*************************************************************************

Do YOU know that bin Laden is guilty?

If so, show us the evidence, please! The White House is rather hesitant on doing that. I urge you to take your no doubt overwhelming, conclusive evidence of bin Laden's guilt to the DoJ, and we can close the case.

***************************************************************************

Hey, bin Laden may be responsible for 9/11.

Truth is, we simply don't know - and we have to take the traitors in the White House at their word that he planned, financed, and ordered the attacks.

I believe in guilty before proven innocent even for the worst of humanity, and without concrete evidence that bin Laden was the guy, and with the fact that so much of the Bush "evidence" winds up fraudulent (Niger, anyone?), I simply cannot state categorically that bin Laden was the one.

If Dean gets the RAT nomination we are about to have definitive proof of just how many Americans are mentally ill.

Just count the votes.

You know, there is a lesson for all of us in reading these posts.

The lesson is that there are a fairly large number of mentally disturbed people among us. They work with us, their children go to school with ours, and they also have the vote.

I don't think anything short of deprogramming will get them to change their world view.

I really don't see what the problem with this is. Of course OBL deserves a fair trial. Why are you so worried about that? Do you not think that we have enough evidence to convict and string up the guy?

"If Dean gets the RAT nomination we are about to have definitive proof of just how many Americans are mentally ill."

Well, it was at least 50% of the population in the last Presidental election.

With openly Democratic socialist candidates like Dean and Kucinich, the evidence suggests we're heading for Civil War II within 25 years in any case...

You're correct.

And, of course, Dean's blatherings are just cheap shots designed to slam Bush and appeal to his base. Dean knows there's very little chance that OBL's JDAM-splattered body will ever be found, and thus little chance that he'll have to eat his words (for once).

This is why Howard Dean will only carry Mass and DC in the 2004 election. The only thing that could be better was that H. Clinton was his veep candidate.

I don't think he deserves any trial at all, at least not in the civilian court system. Trials are for criminals. Osama is not a "suspect", he's a military objective, and therefore he and his followers and supporters are "the enemy".

The only trial he deserves (assuming he's ever captured alive, which I highly doubt will happen) would be a military tribunal, of the sort the Japanese officers & leadership were subjected to after WWII.

The whole "problem" with Dean and this whole trial business is not so much that he's "not convinced" of Osama's guilt, but that he's thinking of him as a criminal suspect, and that he should be subject to our judicial system. It doesn't matter if we've got rock solid evidence that would convict him in a U.S. court. The whole point is that this is not, and never should have been, a criminal matter and should not be thought of or referred to in criminal terms. This is a military matter.

I like how they think giving Osama a fair trial will cause the "reasonable" terrorists to say to themselves:

"Oh the U.S. gave him a fair trial, gee, we have had them all wrong, let's stop bombing them".

LOL!

Dean looks crazier every day , Lets put Bin Laden on trial in Vermont and let them pay the expense of the trial. We know the world court is a joke they have been trying to convict Milosovic for 3 years now in a Kangaroo court and cant get the job done. As for Deans supporters they just hate Bush , they would support Beelzebub if he was running against Bush.

I proudly added to their threads by announcing that he be hung immediately after a summary military trial in the field.

I don't know if this addresses your point, but I thought I would chime in.

When someone is charged with an ordinary crime, our system has a definitive process. Acts of war and mass murder may call for a different protocol. Ultimately of course, the trial must be fair. But there is a legitimate purpose to a thing called a "show trial" - from which following the exacting requirements such as presumption of innocence would seriously detract.

" I really don't see what the problem with this is. "

It's not the trial part of Dr Deanmento's statement that has caused the furor. It's Dean's statement that we shouldn't prejudge Osama's guilt or innocent before he has a chance to make his case in the courtroom. And he doesn't necessarily agree that the death penalty should apply-that should be left to a jury. I guess the mad doctor has forgotten the video where Osama laughingly confesses to 9/11. Since Hitler did not have a trial and due process,I guess Dean must be leery to pass judgement on his guilt, also.

I think buckshot to the chest would be fair. Our Constitution applies to CITIZENS. Last I checked, bin Laden wasn't an American.

What idiots.
