Rush is able to articulate effectively conservatism. If he had been able to tap the anger of the left and become a leftist spokesperson, would you be providing the same defense? Jim and Tammy Baker did a lot of good with their ministry. They were still crooks.

Rush is fighting this as a Clintonista. Blaming others and not being forthright in the facts. He has said the tabloid that broke his story has been rife with errors. So far they have been mostly right and other than saying their are in error, he hasn't pointed to one substantial error. So what if there is an error or two. Even he reports that he only has a 97.5% accuracy rate (if even that). So we discount everything he says because of an error to two?

It will be interesting to have him go after the Enquirer. Because in a civil suit, both parties have wide latitude in discovery. He better be ready for more than just his medical records to be outted.

"Doctor shopping" is crime... why? Why is it the government's business what you do with however many doctors you want in any interval you want?

Similarly, "structuring" is a crime only because the government wants to stick its nose into every financial deal larger than buying a used Yugo.

Are we truly free when laws like this stalk people like Rush?

It is easy to just come out and ask someone, "Wehre did you learn these facts?" But he hit the nial right on the head. THIS IS EXACTLY what doctor shopping is. If the man did wrong then he needs to pay for whatever crime he has committed. What's fair is fair. If this had been some liberal out there EVERY member on this site would have had his/her head! So to all the ditto heads out there, rush was wrong and in your hearts you know it. Stop being a bleeding heart and hold to your beliefs/values and give the man a tongue lashing like you would do any liberal.

What does "taking responsibility for his actions" mean he has to do?

Go into treatment? Acknowledge his addiction? Stop taking the drugs? What else?

" Where did you learn of these facts?"

Numerous media reports. That's why the prosecutors siezed his medical records.

My statement

blaming "Dr. Quack" is nonsense and illogical

was in response to this:

Shouldn't Dr Quack be the one being investigated for leading an innocent victim down the path of lawlessness and drug use?

Which in MHO is nonsense and illogical. Rush is no innocent victim. If he didn't break the law, great; if he did then he should take responsibility for his actions. But I am not buying into the blossoming Rush victim-hood legend.

"Are we truly free when laws like this stalk people like Rush?"

Your thinking is one of crime isn't crime crime is relative.
This is hogwash. The crime did not stalk Rush. If found guilty of this then Rush committed the crime. Enough of the oooo so poor person who is not at fault. Stop making excuses for this man.

If it is a crime that dictates possible jail sentence then a jury of his peers will need to decide this. This man is responsible for his OWN ACTIONS and noone else!

What else?

Go to court (if charges are filed) and subject himself to the laws of the land without blaming others for his problems.

Rush has not done this yet, but he came pretty close last week. My comment is in response to the author of the article that seemingly wants to blame the doctors. I ain't buying it.

Did you miss your 'meds' this am?

Why do you ask? Does the ability to point out that blaming Rush's doctors is nonsense make someone a candidate for 'meds'

Does it worry you in the least that the prosecutors didn't have even one provable fact of Rush breaking the law before they decided they needed to see Rush's med records?

The prosecutors are the ones doing the "shopping". They have failed to prove any of the first 3 speculative accusations they lobbed out, so now they are going fishing for anything, and violating Rush's right to privacy in the process.

Is this Gestapo tactic OK with you?

The War on (some) Drugs is nonsense and illogical. This is just another example.

Numerous media reports. That's why the prosecutors siezed his medical records.

Ah. Numerous media reports! Then you can cite two or three for me, no? And maybe one of the ones you cite will not have endorsed Al Gore for President in 2000?

Around here, we tend to be skeptical of things we see reported in rags like the Palm Beach Post or hear from the Dan Blathers of the world.

The prosecutors seized his medical records becasue they are seeking to destroy Rush using the power of the State and their own virtual immunity from prosecution. They didn't read this stuff in the papers. They leaked it to the papers themselves.

Open your eyes.

PS What ever happened to the money laundering charges your beloved media were talking about some weeks ago?

Doctor shopping seems to be far fetched to me

Maybe some unethical doctor would write script for $$$$ but shopping doesn't make sense to me

I can't see Rush goping to a doctor and trying to get a prescription for back pain without the doctor asking how come the docs who operated didn't give him scrip or asking how come he doesn't go to his primary doc or asking how come his precription wasn't renewed or asking to see copies of his records etc etc etc

Do you ever wonder why most of the nation believes in God,the Ten Commandments and yet you cant mention them in government buildings, schools, etc?
The answer is obvious .
It is because TOO many of those who supposedly are christians etc VOTE for the democrats who appoint LIBERAL judges

Correct. Rush admitted he did something very wrong. It probably has cost him dearly professionally, and in his family life.

However, apart from the fact I like listening to his show and would feel bad if his problems led to the end of his career, why should my tax dollars go to an intrusive, anti-Contitutional, and ineffective class of laws, and the enforcement mechanisms for those laws, just to "save" people like Rush, or maybe "save" us all from people like Rush?

There is no benefit to anyone arising from the investigative and prosecutorial resources spent on this case.

To: Always Right
As always, you are right. I know a LOT of people with severe, unremitting back pain who do go from doctor to doctor looking for someone who will right the solution to their problems. I have a great deal of sympathy for these people, and those of us who do not have such a problem have NO IDEA what that kind of pain will do to a person, physically AND mentally.

As for Rush being prosecuted, it's very easy. People who become addicted to painkilling drugs are never charged with any crime relating to acquiring the drugs from doctors.
