Sometimes (not often enough), the ACLU is right. It is nice that they seem to believe that medical privacy has to do with things besides just abortion. A few leftists are smart enough to realize that politically motivated "criminal" investigations are bad for everyone. They can be useful allies. Too bad that much of the left is run by neo-Stalinists who dream of creating show trials.

Sometimes (not often enough), the ACLU is right.

Like when they tried to defend the Americans of Japanese extraction during WWII, Of course they helped a lot.

Of Course the ACLU was in there with the NRA when trying to stop the gutting of the 1st amendment this year.

So Occasionally Like a stopped analog clock they get it correct.

The palm beach democrats see this as an opening to a larger opportunity for bigger elected office.

Eventually I predict that these Palm beach politicians and anyone connected with this are sowing the seeds of their own extinction. These out of control wackos will become representative of the party of clinton, the party of dean, the party of deviants.

The celebration of Christmas is illegal in Cuba and other Communist countries.

The "ACLU" is working to effect the same condition in the USA.

OUTLAW JIHAD, NOT CHRISTMAS!.

For all their faults, the ACLU has done and can do many good things for America.

Conservatives, libertarians, and constitutionalists of all stripes should infiltrate the ACLU, and steer it to better protect and defend our rights and liberties. I believe this is what Bob Barr is trying to do now.

Besides, the ACLU, even if they dislike Rush and everything he stands for, always play to win. Rush should take them up on this one (not that he needs their help, with all his millions!)

Could it be that the ACLU wants to infultrate Rush limbaugh's team? Rush is unlikely to go anywhere soon. Affiliation would buy them legitimacy. (same as every media outlet which gets better ratings by putting Rush in the news.

They could easily file for permission to file an amicus brief without the need for an affiliation.

......... in order to get non-leftwing folks to send them money. Don't be fooled.

Non-leftwing folks like Bob Barr and Dick Armey. I wonder if those two fools are still members?

If they are, they ought to stop. No shame in admitting a mistake.

This is a juicy development.

If Rush is 100% sure he has a solid case, and is willing personally to risk the possibility of the whole shooting match of his records getting leaked (to his embarassment but not guilt) then I'd say he should go for it. The more the ACLU spends on Rush, the less they have to spend helping Terri Schiavo get offed. That's the way I see it.

First Lanny Davis and now the ACLU taking Rush's side. I need another drink. Where did I put that bottle of Everclear?

This is easy for the aclu, they get publicity saying how "we would even defend Limbaugh" knowing full well he will not accept. Being the cynic that I am, I interpret this as being a snide jab at Rush.

Maybe.. But outside conservative circles, the ACLU already has legitimacy. It could be about publicity, but consider the media - with their liberal tendencies, they already will cover the smallest ACLU lawsuit at the drop of a hat, but ignore Limbaugh except to mock him and cover bad things about him.

Sure, it might buy them some notoriety, supporting someone who most people would assume is their mortal enemy, but in many circles associating with Rush will make them LOSE legitimacy!

The ACLU always has been an advocate of medical privacy, and Rush is a high-profile victim of government intrusion into our personal records. I say Rush should take them up on it. Who knows - maybe some of Rush's conservativism will rub off on them!

Careful, maybe they want the precedent for the purpose of making it easier to "off" Terri.

There is a philosophical tension between two major factions within the ACLU. One faction wants to further any liberal cause; the other is more philosophically pure about civil rights even when it might hurt a liberal cause. So far the first faction seems to be winning out.
