Howard Dean's religion problem. Beyond Belief
The New Republic ^ | 12/22/03 | Franklin Foer

Dean will still have a hard time selling himself as a moderate. It's not just his opposition to the war--though that may pose more of a problem now that Saddam Hussein has been captured. No, the real reason Dean will not be able to escape a liberal caricature has little to do with policy and everything to do with a warning flag that will mark him as culturally alien to much of the country: Howard Dean is one of the most secular candidates to run for president in modern history.

The same morons eho claim to be Christians and who voted for clintoon and gwhore will also vote for Dean. Personally, I am going to vote in the Rat primary just to cast a vote for Sharpton and throw a wrench in the works.

I don't know if I can do that in California but I'd like to do the same.

This won't gain him anything with discerning Christians and possibly lose him some votes with his base.

He's trying to morph into Jimmy Carter.

California having open primaries, you can do it, IIRC. But please keep an open mind for further developments.

You have to register as a member of that party at least a certain number of days, something like 60 or 45, in order to vote in that party's primary in California.

Howard Dean is anti-religion, anti-war, anti-pro life and most of all anti- American! A vote for Howard Dean will leave our country unprotected and will take God out of American life! I would suggest that all Americans take heed of increased terror warnings that are now in effect, and the proactive measures the GW Bush administartion is taking to protect the homeland! You can bet your bottom dollar that the likes of Howard Dean or any other "traitor/treason" Democrat elected to the POTUS will lead to thousands of American innocents deaths by making nice to the terrorists or turning our destiny over to that moron Kofi Annan and the failed United Nations. A vote for any Democrat is a vote for a death wish for you and your family. Better wise up Mr. & Ms. America!

This "Jesus was like me,really" assault reveals Dean's ego, and his narrow, biased and condescending view of "what southerners want". He sees the numbers. He will get pasted in the southern primaries. He knows this, this is an early attempt at an adjustment.
To me this desperation leads Merrily to:

Safire's prediction of an independant run.
Mean dean, the Fightin Machine.

The Big D? ... angry, disunified, with little loyalty to anything,no unifying idea, philosophy or common cause. Thier view of the opposition is simplistic and cartoonish.
We are a straw man made of "all things evil".

Check out any single thread at DUmmyVillage to verify this.
Dissent is dismissed as "media whore right wingers", or "disruptors". If a story comes up they don't like, the issue is never debated, the source or poster is attacked.
They lack respect, and overwhelmingly under-rate us, and the serious depth and breadth of our belief and commitment.

If Klintoon didn't have a Southern accent, he would have lost. Even with Perot, even running against Dull - I mean Dole.
