SEATTLE, Dec 23 (Reuters) - Meat from a cow with the deadly mad cow disease may have already been eaten, possibly in the form of hamburger, Washington State Deputy Director of Agriculture Bill Brookerson said on Tuesday.
Asked at a press conference if it was possible that the meat had already been consumed, Brookerson replied: "It's possible."

"I doubt this will be nothing more than a scare, from what I have read so far, there is little chance this will result in anything more than a quarenteen of that particular farm."
BSE disaster: the history
Suggested reading. The same thought pattern prevailed in England. The result of that type of thinking was a disaster.

Meat had eaten the state legislator?
Where can I find some to feed the Arkansas State Legislature???
Maybe Mad-Cow will be better than these Ignorant-Swine that are trying to make sure that Arkansas stays at #51 in education level of all the states!
Yeah - I know!

The story begins to grow...where does it end? As noted below, the meat was sent to an Oregon distributor as well as "Interstate Meat", so it certainly doesn't end in Washington State:
"Federal authorities believe the cow was deboned at Midway Meats, before its flesh was sent to two other facilities: Willamette Valley Meats in Portland, Ore., and Interstate Meat in Federal Way, Wash. It was not immediately clear where the animal was slaughtered."

Straight story, anyone? Down cattle are tested, but by the time the test results come back, the meat has been eaten.

there is little chance this will result in anything more than a quarenteen of that particular farm. Usually the disease comes from feed...so there will be more.

I think that the processing and packaging plants are in Oregon. I suspect the number of labels will be substantial based on pictures of an Oregon plant.
