Embarrassed Namath apologizes to Kolber

Embarrassed by Saturday night's national television interview, pro football Hall of Famer Joe Namath admitted on Tuesday that he had been drinking and apologized to ESPN reporter Suzy Kolber for saying he wanted to kiss her.

"I was full of some Christmas cheer, certainly too much. It was a festive occasion," Namath said of the gathering of former New York Jets stars who were to be honored at the game at Giants Stadium against the New England Patriots. "I wasn't trying to be rude and crude. I feel awful about what happened, for my family and the Jets. I've been in better Christmas spirits, no pun intended."

I still think a drunk Joe Namath has a better chance of getting to kiss Suzy than a sober me does. :(

Actually, Joe's wife left him and took the 2 girls. Joe has been Mr Mom for them and is taking it really hard. He lived for his girls and is finding it hard to cope.

Not an excuse for his actions, just a look into his mind set.

I am talking before this incident. May or not be why he has been hitting the bottle hard, he was 3 sheets during the interview, you think it would have showed before they put him on live tv.

He lost his daughters, so it may be why he had extra sauce. No excuse for what he did, but may explain his mindset.

Ex-QB Namath files
for divorce in Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Namath has filed for divorce.
Namath and his 37-year-old wife, Tatiana, married in 1984 and have a home in Jupiter. They have two children, Olivia, 13, and Jessica, 8.
According to court records, Tatiana Namath is not contesting the divorce, the Sun-Sentinel reported. Namath's lawyer, James Fox Miller, filed the papers in Broward County circuit court March 19.
Namath, 55, remains one of the most celebrated football figures, even in retirement. During his years with the New York Jets, Namath's playboy image as "Broadway Joe" shook the staid NFL. But for many years now he has reveled in his life as a doting family man.

Joe did a few plays, some commercials, what acting jobs he could get, but wanted the big payday and when Joe was no longer in the spotlight, she left looking for greener pastures. She wanted to ride on his name and when she could'nt, she bailed taking his daughters, whom he lived and died for, with her. He raised those gorls, doing the whole school thing and everything and she yanked them out and moved from Florida. He was a great father and the loss has killed him.

Here's a tidbit from Slate, back when Namath was getting divorced...

The tabs recently have been offering a series of unhappy meditations on the nature of masculinity today. For example, also walking that long road from gridiron glory to gelding is Joe Namath, 55 [he's now 4 years older]. His 37-year-old wife was so bored watching him golf away his retirement in Florida, according to the Enquirer, that she fled to Los Angeles, leaving the couple's two daughters with Namath. She is now dating plastic surgeon Brian Novack, who is, according to the publication, "a renowned expert in penis and breast enhancement." Namath, an insider reports, is "devastated." But Broadway Joe should have seen it coming. When he got married, his wife's name was Deborah, now she calls herself Tatiana. Any divorce lawyer can tell you that when Debbie becomes Tatiana, it's time to freeze your bank accounts.

Oops, golf widow, huh? Well, he'll do better next time round. :) I loved Joe Namath when I was in High School. Last time I heard he had a girlfriend named Susie from Pensacola FL. :)
