Hopefully, the present course we're on will win over the Muslim world to a future of peace and democracy, and deny the radicals "soil" upon which to plant their seeds of terror.

Failing that, we should recall that the last time the U.S.A. dealt with religious, suicidal attacks upon the armed forces of our country, we ended up dropping two "A" bombs. Two were dropped, because one alone could not deter the Japanese.

Mecca and Medina would be logical targets. Could our country contemplate something as horrific as some have advocated on this forum, i.e. Nuc both holy Islamic cities to communicate the message to Al-Quada that destruction of two criminal regimes have thus far failed to do?

Well, let's look at it from another perspective. Instead of thinking the unthinkable about Muslim innocents dying at our hands, perhaps the proper question is this: Are American women and children worth less than those in Mecca and Medina? Than those in Syria or Iran, or Egypt?

If Al-Quada succeeds in killing hundreds of thousands or even millions of American innocents with a weapon of mass destruction, I hope to God that we have responsible leadership at America's helm, that indeed the unthinkable has been thought, that America is willing to demonstrate that the brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, nieces, parents, and close friends of those Muslims who comprise Al-Quada are not more important than the dead American's they've murdered.

Logically, should such an attack occur, there is no responsible alternative to retaliation, to a demonstration of American resolve. The U.S. government will have no alternative but to offer international proof that as much we are willing to risk American lives and take casualties to free Iraqi and Afghani Muslims, to risk civilian lives by acting with restraint in the face of murderous attacks, that we are also willing to defend American citizens to the last Muslim, should it come to that.

This is getting more worrisome by the hour. Ashcroft called back to D.C. from vacation and Rumsfeld from his.?

MFH, those details have escaped me with the Christmas goings-on around here. Is there a news story/thread about this?? Thanks.

What Bush should do is tell the world that we have been threatened by the same organization that killed 4000 Americans on September 11, 2001 and that they have promised this sneak attack will be so grand as to make us forget 9/11 forevermore (as small potatoes).

THEN--Launch a nuclear FIRST STRIKE attack on the Afghani mountain range where Bin Laden was last traced and glassify it so sufficiently that even goats can't stand up on it anymore...Let's see Al Qaeda out-do THAT!

Oh...Dean, Clark, Gore, Hitlery, Kerry, etc get first dibs on the parking spaces we'd create doing it...Call it "Throwing them a GLOWING bone for Christmas", because with such a tough showing of protection of Americans that Bush would make doing it, it'll be the ONLY thing the Dummycraps get for 2004 and beyond!

Just confirms, in writing, what we already know! The dems must be secretly admiring these wackos' ability to brain-wash their own followers.

You point out all these soldiers and I have no doubt the Homeland Security department will take care of them. But I suspect you simply want to expel all Muslim males between 16 and 45 or so. While that may be tempting, it ain't gonna happen.

I hope your confidence is well-placed.

Terror attacks against the Saudi's will weaken Islamic Jihad. There's a way to kill to birds with one stone here, but I doubt our Intel Agencies are that bold.

I wonder if we could get them to settle by meeting just one demand--

The dismantle of the so called (United Nations and its council) in an international decision."

I cannot tell if it's me that's confused or them...
However, interesting read! Know thy enemy.

...Abu Hajer, who is on Saudi Arabia's most-wanted list, referred to the dispute over the attacks inside Saudi Arabia in an interview with an Al-Qa'ida online magazine, The Voice of Jihad: "Jihad members and Mujahideen sympathizers were divided: Some said we must attack the invading forces that defile the land of the two holy places [i.e. the Arabian Peninsula], and must cause the Americans to become preoccupied with themselves and their bases so they won't leave them to crush the countries and lands of the Muslims, country by country.

[9] A reference to the war against the Christians, termed in this context "Byzantines" following a Hadith that is attributed to the Prophet Muhammad regarding the future battle.

Excerpt: ...Sheikh Al-Qaradhawi qualified his statement: "I maintain that the conquest this time will not be by the sword but by preaching and ideology…"

It certainly possible to light up all major US cities, there's certainly nothing stopping them if they have the means.

We have slacked up on visa's again, demanding to know who is flying into the nation, and the borders have always been wide open.

Maybe we should really embrace the doctrine of pre-emption, tell terrorists they don't know who their messin with, we don't like being threatened, then light up Saudi Arabia, Damascus, "No Man's Land", in Pakistan, and Yemen.

As attractive as the fantasy of nuking Mecca is, and I admit, sometimes it is damned appealing, it won't happen

Let's hope not. How stupid would it be to burn the trump card?

If worse really came to worst--an all-out war between the West and Islam--we'd capture Mecca and Medina. The Muslims are required to visit Mecca. Destroying it would only frustrate them. If instead they had to obtain American permission to perform the Hajj, you can bet that they'd smile past American checkpoints rather than risk being sent home unhajjed. And attacks against Americans would be few and far between if they knew that it would result in a loss of access to Islam's holy sites.

If there's a major attack against America, the smoothest course would be to foment an Islamic revolution in Saudi Arabia. Then, of course, we'd have no choice but to send troops to "stabilize the situation"--and since the Iraq war, we have just the materiel in place to do it.

Mecca is not a threat to anyone.

No, Mecca isn't a threat. However, if these people wish to carry out a "holy war", then they must understand that there will be casualties of a holy nature. Hence, Mecca disappears.

The destruction of Mecca may force the average law-abiding muslim into action to overthrow their governments that sponsor terrorism. Or it may turn all of them against us. Either way, nothing will be the same again if we are forced to vaporize their holy city.

Whatever happens, they must be forced to understand that we will stop at nothing to achieve victory. So far, we have restrained ourselves to an incredible degree. That will change with the loss of a city.

Remember: we lost 2500 people - only 48 of whom were civilians - at Pearl Harbor. As a result, we fought Japan for 3 1/2 years and vaporized two of their cities. On 9/11, we lost 3000 - almost all civilians, including women and children - and as yet have not taught the Muslim world the lesson we taught Japan. Personally, I don't think I would have had the courage Bush had to not launch a nuclear strike.

This Daleel Almojahid posting on the internet is a complete fraud, just a chain-jerker. Probably some Middle Eastern college kid.

AQ threats are real, but not this bozo.

Almojahid said his group understands the importance of water and oil and is willing for the current situation to stay as it is, with a qualifier. "The pricing of oil is left to us and we promise you to make it available at a reasonable price for poor and for rich nations."

Interesting.

He has great fun writing these jokes. I do not think that this is real.

Yeah, I think you're probably right. No real terrorist org would be posting it's plans like that to a Yahoo group.

I can think of nothing that would harden the hearts of the American people so much as a second attack, particularly with nuclear weapons.

These idiots have many times accused of waging a new crusade. They have no idea.

Agree. Sort of reminds me of the old saying "the pen is mightier than the sword".

IMHO, I think they have to hit us without warning, and with no particular meaningful U.S Holiday or event in mind to coincide with their attack. OTOH, they would, if they could, but they can't so they won't.

Keep in mind, what was so important about the last attack date of Sept ll? Nothing.
