All I can say - is that we should have a wave of B-52's fueled and ready - and if Al Qaeda manages to pull something off - we obliterate the region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Nice thought. Let's pre-empt them. Announce that if they do anything AT ALL we obliterate the region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border. Why do we have to play DEFENSE all the time in this war?
To: My Favorite Headache
I predict that absolutely nothing will happen and there will be no arrests either.

I remember reporters saying the country was on Code Threat Delta or something on 9/11...meaning we were at war...but I think we went to that during the Iraq war...so code red would be higher than that.
I just hope Jack Nicholson doesn't call a code red.
To: FairOpinion
I have been not really paying too much attention, but that kind of freaks me out.
That is about as close as you will get to "run for the hills" based on what a reporter was told.
That is somewhat disconcerting.....sounds like we need to be at Code Red now...

Look at what you just said there. It was horrible that innocent Germans got killed in World War II. Same as it was horrible innocent Brits got killed by the Germans. In case no one has noticed: this is war.

No problem! No problem at all. Let them fly planes into buildings and blow themselves up in public squares.
Deep in the heart of America the Eagles claws are being warmed by circulating hot air and the Tritium levels are being refreshed in warheads with nice new active stuff and new targets are being evaluated on a minute by minute basis.
The metal creaks as the skins of those awesome talons of the Eagle wriggle and form into shape around the prepared propellants as they are brought to ready status.
I'll guarantee you there are a dozen or more techs hovering over those missiles right this minute massaging them and tickling their underbellies and purring to them in their special ways just itching to watch those awesom birds of prey lash out at those who wish to make this a cave mans world once again.
They want caves? We got the tools to make 'em. Real quick.
One more 9/11 style Jihad thing in the USA over a tiny piece of land that DOES NOT belong to Islam in any case and they think we are going to back down?
Are they just trying to commit suicide by nuke or what?
In the interest of compassion I think we should indulge them.
As for us. We were planning no travel just to get some rest and to enjoy the Holiday but this terrorist BS has motivated us to take another "finger flight". We ae going to fly to San Diego or San Francisco or Vegas for lunch or dinner or something this Christmas Holiday to give the terrorists the "finger". Did the same right after flights resumed after 9/11.
We wear appropriate T's too. :)
I urge EVERYONE to enjoy their CHRISTMAS Holiday and to give the terrorists the FINGER in their own way.

Oh come on - go to Red - and threaten Nuclear Retaliation against Syria, Lebanon, and Iran - I don't want the Government to go to Red AFTER the Cargo Jet blows up the Sugar Bowl.Ever seen the film Jaws?
Remember why the mayor didn't want Roy Scheider to say the word "shark"?

well, then code red isn't good for much. Sure it is. It means all available government sources will be activated, and the funding diverted to it to accommodate.
It's like going to "orange" then enforcement is beefed up, intelligence is beefed up, and we are told to understand that our input is important.
I.E. At airports, signs are activated to let the public know that their vehicles are prone to search, I myself, as an airport working resident am informed to pay close attention to ANYTHING unusual and report it. It pays $$, however lack of close attention to TSA agents acting as people trying to gain access to the ramp incognito, can be detrimental to ones employment. So the color bars themselves are a simple representation....(for the residence of Rio Linda) so they can understand, but also it activates all that can help divert an attack, who normally wouldn't put forth as much effort.

"Unlike past elevations of the terror threat level, the decision to raise the alert to orange this time was unanimous and decisive, because it was based on what senior Bush administration officials described as the most alarming, credible and specific information they had ever seen."
It's times like now I wish I were a Democrat - "Well, I'm not worried - Bush's information also said their was a credible and imminent threat of WMD from Iraq - and they didn't even have any!"

Great - why isn't Guiliani heading Homeland Security instead of "remain vigilent" Tom Ridge?

... but... but... but I thought it'd long since been decided that it was actually we dirty, filthy, evil
Jooooooooooooooooooooos who'd actually been responsible for coordinating and carrying out all terrorist attacks on American soil! That's what the French and the
DUmmies have been robotically insisting all this time, at any rate!
It's not fair! It's not fair, I tell you! WE want to be the recognized world masterminds of large-scale global terror, death and destruction! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH -- ! < /sarcasm>

It will be either by land or by air or by sea. If land, I'm betting on foot, hoof, or wheel.
Although tread is a distinct possibility.......

another attack will be horrible. But our response will be something to behold.

Indeed. But you -- and I think everyone else on FR -- is smart enough to know that there is an offensive aspect to any side in war. Even our attack on Iraq was defensive in nature, at its root. We are smart, we have the intelligence, to know where the attacks are coming from next. Taking the offensive would seem to be the only logical course. And we can do it without firepower. Just let Syria (for example) know that the next attack on our soil will be attributed to it. Then watch the fun as Syria makes frantic cell calls to peeps they claim not to know. We're probably having this kind of fun clandestinely. I hope so!
