Hey, guys and dolls, sign on now so that your screen name will be in the cruise committee's hat for the final $50 on-board gift certificate drawing next Friday. Admiral of the FReep JimRob will draw the name of the lucky winner.

Previous winners are the Mycroft Holmes, the Dalereeds and Hoosiermama. Good luck to all registrants in the drawing.

During the entire cruise week, we're going to have a lot of fun drawing names EVERY DANG DAY/EVENING for the many fun and unique prizes donated to the cruise by generous freepers.

The donors are: Hoosiermama, Carlo3b, Oswegodeee, Utah Girl, Bizzy Bugz, MinuteGal, Cyber Liberty, Slip 18, The Shrew, Bob J plus some anonymous darlings. Bless you all for helping to make this cruise the terrific event we know it's going to be.

Zuiderdam Internet Center

The above photo of the Zuiderdam Internet Center is much appreciated, Ron. Thanks for posting.

Folks, you can hang ten on the keyboards in the ship's airy, quiet internet cafe every day if you want.

This Internet Center is not an afterthought or a converted hallway like it is on some other ships. It's a spacious, purpose-built room where passengers can send e-mails and surf the Internet for a fee based on time spent.

Keep in mind, also, that all cabins feature Internet/E-mail data ports for your lap top computers.

You won't miss anything that's going on in the world while we're at sea. Round-the-clock news and/or breaking news is on your cabin TV 24 hours a day.

Early each morning, your room steward slides a mini-newspaper under your door. It has all the latest news sent electronically by international wire services to cruise ships everywhere. It also features up-to-the-minute sports, stateside weather, stock market reports, entertainment news and even a crossword puzzle. There's even the occasional liberal NYT editorial for your reading pleasure if you're a good boy or girl.

If you have a tropical drink in a port cantina, chances are there's a TV to watch. I recall seeing a live Super Bowl game in St. Thomas some years ago while our group was sitting at an outdoor bar. A couple of TVs were hanging from the beams of the palm-thatched roof. I was enjoying the best hamburger I ever ate. It was charbroiled on a flaming open grill by the pub's British owners. Everyone had a jolly time eating, drinking and cheering on their favorite team.

I must say it was kinda weird viewing the Super Bowl on a tropical island.....but actually, I guess it was the Ultimate Sports Bar Experience!

So, it's a fact that even though we're on the bounding main for a week, we'll be up on all world and domestic news thanks to the electronic age and all the satellites circling the globe.

I suspect Gene is busy holding down the 0cents empire. Maybe we can convince him to come along?

Well, it’s no secret that FReepers know how to party! Some of you know all the ins-and-outs of what kind of fun we can have in the Caribbean, from first-hand knowledge, others know only the ‘Readers’ Digest’ version. After all, What Happens On The Cruise Stays On The Cruise.(we decided on that rule on the last day of the cruise last year....) Don’t be left out of the fun, reserve your cabin today, and you’ll be invited to the ultra-exclusive, invitation-only, black-tie-prohibited FReeper Beach Party!

Get ready to enjoy the ultimate in luxury during our stay on Holland America’s exclusive island, Half Moon Cay, with the use of our own private cabana! Be sure to board the first tender ashore to maximize your time by being the first guests to arrive and the last back to the ship at the end of the day. For the best in FReeper comfort our cabana will be outfitted with a refrigerator, ceiling fan, air conditioner, table and chairs inside, and deck chairs and a misting shower on the private terrace.

We will be provided with fresh fruit, vegetables with dip, and chips and salsa to snack on as well as an assortment of soft drinks and bottled water to quench our thirst. Beach towels, floating mats, snorkel gear, and binoculars are also included for our use throughout the day. All this, and invigorating conversation too! Who could ask for anything more?

Well, how about a good dose of sunshine, cool Caribbean breezes, crystal-clear water, and an expansive white sandy beach. How about water sports, just a step away, kayaks, parasailing, catamarans, and aqua cycles. You can even try your luck at windsurfing, just like John Effin Kerry (but no cussin’ if you fall!) There’s also a bar (of course) offering any drink you can imagine with an umbrella, or ice-cold beer. Also, we’ll be treated to a great outdoor BBQ, with a steel-drum band playing.

Our cabana is Green, just like the economy, and I’d like to take a minute to thank my husband, how allowed me to stimulate the economy and book the cabana to make this the Best FReeper Beach Party ever! I’m trying to get my hands on a map of Half Moon Cay to see exactly where the cabana is, the only thing I know is it’s between the Purple and the Pink ones! We’ll decorate it, of course, in true FReeper style with red, white, and blue, and take lots of pictures.

C’mon, admit it, you want to be IN those pictures. Pick up the phone, call Wanda, and she’ll make the arrangements. I can’t believe it’s less than 1 month away. For those of you who went on the cruise last year, we can't wait to see y'all again. For those of you who didn't go last year, I very excited to meet you!

Thank YOU, Jan, and your wonderful hubby for this generous donation of a cabana-for-a-day. Now we'll have a pre-reserved focal point for our beach party. There's plenty of lounge chairs around and we can have our usual freeper circle of fun, food and chat in the sun amidst balmy tropical breezes. We'll be just yards from the edge of the tranquil azure waters of this gorgeous little islet!

I've got Free Republic.com signs and American flags to decorate our little wood shack. Should create some attention from other passengers enjoying the day.

FREEPERS ESTABLISH BEACHHEAD ON HALF MOON CAY!

Thanks for all the kind words. When I heard about these cabanas, I thought, "woudn't it be great for our FReeper Beach Party to get one". The more I read about them, the more I wanted one....... So, since I"m not a shop-a-holic on these cruises, I made a trade with my hubby: This would be my big souvenier for this trip, all the great memories from this day, and the six other wonderful days onboard the Zuiderdam (That 'Dam Ship)

If you haven't already booked your trip with us, hurry and do it now. Someone just booked yesterday, it's not too late!! Do your part to stimulate the economy! Put those tax rebates to work! Don't miss the best vacation of your life!! Call Wanda now, the more the merrier.
