what I'd like to know is where are the terrorist cells? ... Detroit is listed as a very large Islamic community ... and yes, though it isn't politically correct, overwhelmingly we're dealing with an Islamic problem ... pure and simple ...

I'm not talking per se where the cells are that perhaps are being monitored so they can collect more information (and I hope STOP THEM before they do pull something off) ...

in "Jihad in America", they gave organizations, locations, etc. where this stuff was going on ... somebody in Ogden, Utah might not be at much at risk as say, Detroit, ...

bottom line, there's no 100% proof way of stopping them ... and even with military weapons, they're successful at attacking Israel soldiers and American soldiers in Iraq ...

I'm amazed we have been the victims of smaller attacks like that, frankly ... (thank God) ...

I have quit scanning passengers, etc, as I used to do so maybe this alert is good, people will look around more.

Yesterday, after the alert was issued in NYC by ABC news concerning a female suicide bomber, my sister flew back from LaGuardia to Atlanta.

She is dark haired, very tan, and has dark eyes. Could pass for a Middle Eastern, even though the looks can be attributed to American Indian heritage on my Dad's side.

Anyway, she said she was really getting "the looks", from security as well as other passengers. As you say, I don't think that's a bad thing.

Now that would definitely be a disturbing event. The country pretty much shuts down at code red. The fact that they raised it to orange after 7 months leads me to believe that they do indeed have very credible information this time. I can't see them putting the economic recovery on the line during the holidays unless there is a gneuine security risk.

A complex plan incorporates contingencies. Do you think that our bombers planes went out during the war with only one target in mind. You always have 2 or 3 alternatives just in case a) the target has already been hit, b) weather obscures the target, c) the target has moved, d) etc. etc. etc.

In Saudi the American personnel stands out and has a higher probability of being hit.

The US government could hardly tell all Americans to leave the US for fear of being attacked. That would achieve the goals of the terrorists as surely, as if they actually perpetrated an attack.

Exactly. Steve Emerson had a very detailed map, I have been trying to find a copy on the web.

The jihadists are actually all over the US.

The reason why Bush appointed Ridge was because, in the short run, a politician was the perfect vehicle to sell a HS dept that was under construction. Ridge appeared on TV every day until the organization was up and running, to give the appearance that it was functioning before it actually was.

It had to be done that way.
