Peach...this is too funny. You sound just like I do. My parents live with me (both ailing). My three children and spouses, and six grandchildren will be here on Tuesday for five days. The tree is up and decorated, the house and yard are lit with lights. However, I have not yet wrapped a single gift (although I did finish my shopping today), I have not yet baked a single cookie, nor made any candy. In my neighborhood I am known as the "gourmet guru", so this is a bit of an embarassment for me. Christmas night, I am having all the neighbors in for homemade eggnog and appetizers....and I haven't done a thing about it yet. Methinks I must get off FreeRepublic and tend to my domestic duties. So much to do and so little time.
These darn terror threats will just have to wait until I can deal with them!!!

It could be validated, if parts of it match with what we have known before.
Also, Kadafi knows what would happen to him, if he gave us misleading info, which would result in us being hit by AQ, because we are concentrating our efforts in the wrong places.
To: Maringa
Wow, what a chilling observation about Libya. I certainly hope they have nothing to do with our increased terror level - bc of course I am hoping that this is another false alarm!
To: Peach
Thank-you .....yes, we are flying ...(
oh dear....)
We all need to keep our sense of humor....
..and definitely pray.
G'night :)

Those threats are interfering with my personal life too! Dang it all.
We had a large sit down dinner for 26 last night; cooked every darn thing ourselves and it was a smashing success, but now I'm thinking I've overbooked things and can't do what I really want to do, which is read a great book and play on FR.
Sounds like you have your hands extremely full too; good luck getting it all done by Christmas. I've yet to wrap my husband's gifts and I bought them so long ago I'm wondering where I hid them:-)
I've ignored Mr. Peach for long enough. Good night all.
Happy to see you around the neighborhood, Rushmore Rocks.

I dunno. Most of the terror alert stuff seems to be following the theory of using planes again.

You are not safe anywhere.
I had an exchange with someone earlier.
Just remember, AQ like simultaneous attacks, and their objective is to create the maximum terror and bring down the US economy. What better way, than to attack in some smaller cities and towns, where people least expect it, exactly to send the message that you are not safe anywhere.
Those attacks wouldn't preclude attacks also on NY, Washington DC, LA or other large cities.

The warning on Vegas was vague for a 30 day + period 12-1-03 to 1-1-04, it was just a personal belief that Vegas on NYE would be ideal for themI read you first post on this subject and told everyone here at work. Now they all want to know where the info came from. Any links?

ROTFL, thanks Joe! It's a very funny and accurate parody.Actually, what I stated was true. Everyone is so concerned about another, brutal massive terrorist event happening here, yet they all stick their heads in the sand and ignore this epic illegal invasion of our own land by millions that are entering illegally, from Lord knows where.
I find it pathetic.
Given the fact that Osama, or USAMA BIN LADEN and any number of terrorist could enter this country at will, routinely.
Osama Bin Laden could have slipped in with the other hundreds of thousands of illegal criminals, and could be sitting at a hotel bar in Houston Texas, wearing a New York Yankees cap, sipping a cool one...
Tom Ridge? Home Land Security? Boy, I feel safe.
Why would *anyone* that is concerned about security, leave the doors and windows wide open to their home?
It's total complete lunacy.

Has anyone read or heard anything about the ultra-light that landed at Van Nuys airport the other day? The radar didn't/couldn't detect it. It landed & the pilot ran away. Our neighbor (airport LE) said they do it to see if they can. He also said that everytime the terror level is increased, it costs LAX alone between $750,000 & $1,000,000 .. so it is not done lightly.

Sorry -- but I think the Rose Bowl and Rose Parade are strong targets, because they are being watched by millions of people all around the world and an attack would also be seen by everyone.
But I am sure precisely for that reason the law enforcement is also paying extra special attention.
