Actually, as a former insomniac, I have learned through prayer how to let go and not worry (toooo much)!
I won't let the bas***ds do that to my life. Not again.

That's a very good point. We need the analytical skills of all Freepers. Mine are definitely at a low ebb right now, being overwhelmed with social and family obligations. But those common, everyday things are what keep us all sane and feeding good food to people is what keeps us healthy.

It washes because Bush has to keep the dialogue open -- if he doen't praise Libya, they become truculent, evasive. (If the case is as we are specualting -- that Libya is trying to stey out of a crossfire.)

"but I think he's out of his league in HS."
Who do you want, General Clark?
Look, this is a big administrative operation. The numbers in terms of people and dollars would overwhelm most people. He's done IMO a fabulous job of pulling things together since 911.
He's fighting battles on many fronts right now, internally as well as abroad. Did you ever pause to think he may be throwing a bone to the Mexican government to get them on board???
Besides, he's not the president nor is he congress. He doesn't make immigration policy.

Definitely, it would impede housework! I am having two grandchildren here tomorrow to help bake cookies. That should take my mind off of some of this.
Other than being vigilant when we are out, and making sure we have our homes properly supplied, there really isn't much else we can do.
Other than have a shot of scotch. HA!

I don't drink....but one of my friends gave me a homemade Jamiacan fruit cake, soaked in rum....
...it will do in a pinch :^)
I was doing OK till I read this thread.....

Thanks Piper. Not threatened enough to change our plans, it just infuriates me that our country is under such vicious threats. Too many years of complacency and pretending our shores were immune from danger. Merry Christmas!

It washes if Libya doesn't tell the US and UK of the WMD it passes along. Try this scenario: Libya agrees to dismantle the WMD program, which has been 8 months in the making. In that time, Libya, still in contact with terrorists, knows of their intent. In an attempt to 'make good' with the world community, knowing what lies ahead, Libya agrees to dismantle the WMD program. Attack occurs and weapons are traced back to Libya. That agreement basically binds the US and UK from attacking Libya, at least in the eyes of that fool Qaddafi and the UN. Of course, I truly believe that Dubya would blast them from the face of the earth. But for an unpredictable guy like Qaddafi who lost family in the attack Reagan ordered- this may just be revenge.
Anything is possible, especially with kooky Muslim leaders.

Grandchildren take one's mind off all of life's troubles. They are a gift and I wish my husband's grandchildren lived here, but alas, they are up north.
I'm off to read a good book and sip the rest of the wine. There is nothing we can do, as you said, but to be vigilant.
Regardless, I wish all our Freepers and you and your family a very merry Christmas and happy New Year.

Well, this thread is better than that 2200 Al Qaeda threatens NY, DC thread. I read some of that and that is why I poured myself the scotch!
Prayers are quite important now, I think.
To: hummingbird
No but please enlighten I would like to rent it! AlQ takes much of their idea's from American movies. Saddam learned all he knows from being a thug thanks to his affection for The Godfather

Just a bunch of boozers! What I drink can typically fit into a thimble, but I've found liquor is a great medicine for muscle spasms. Now there's a good excuse~

No oceanview, I am sober and that is because I wasn't Friday and Saturday night. Another night of "celebration" would cause immediate and complete dehydration.
To: Guenevere
I keep wanting to log off but Freepers keep me laughing tonight!
I make a great amaretto cake and those who don't typically drink swear they can feel the affects of alcohol.
Although something is bound to happen sooner or later, we will survive stronger and better. I think I read on the "other" thread that you are going on a trip - you will be in my thoughts. May you have a wonderful holiday and best wishes to you and your family.

Regarding the heightened Terrorist Alert to Orange - live news conference.
Man, Peach, I wish I had seen that conference. Do you remember right before Gulf War started there was talk of FBI Cessnas patrolling cities throughout the country? Saw some Cessnas Friday but then it was a really pretty day to be flying...I think you just have to be prepared for whatever you can - just in case - and then go on with your life. (Oh, that's big talk now...I'll be the first one crying for my mommy if something should happen!)
