Fury at Jacko visit to UK
By MARTIN WALLACE

By MARTIN WALLACE

A STORM of protest erupted yesterday over revelations that shamed pop star Michael Jackson is to spend Christmas in Britain.

And The Sun is today leading calls from all over the country to BAN the suspected paedophile from entering the UK.

Jacko, who is facing nine child sex abuse charges, has been given permission by US authorities to visit Britain from today until January 6.

But he is planning a party at his Neverland ranch in California this afternoon and is not expected to jet in until tomorrow at the earliest.

We are demanding he be refused entry by immigration officials.

And our call is being supported by a string of politicians and campaigners against child abuse.

Des Turner, Labour MP for Brighton, said: “Britain needs to send out the clearest message to paedophiles that their crimes are evil and unacceptable.

“I would like to see him barred until the charges against him are resolved.”

Labour colleague Dan Norris, MP for Wansdyke, said: “He is clearly the most famous person in the world facing charges of paedophilia.

“It is important we send out the strongest possible message that we take the protection of children seriously.”

Mr Norris, a former social worker, added: “I would not welcome him being allowed into this country until after these matters are dealt with.”

The grandmother of eight-year-old Sarah Payne, who was murdered by paedophile Roy Whiting, also backed a Jacko ban.

Lesley Payne, 50, said: “As far as I’m concerned he should not be allowed into this country. We have a duty to ensure our children are protected.”

The Association of Child Abuse Lawyers said it would be “highly inadvisable” to let Jacko come into contact with kids while the charges were outstanding.

And Sun readers around Britain also believe the 45-year-old star should be refused entry.

Gee, I wonder if Joe Sixpack faced similar charges, would he be able to leave the State, let alone the Country?

They put up with their own sexually-twisted entertainers, why not ours for a while?

More than likely he would still be in jail.

I hardly think so. And if Whacko makes his getaway to France, as I half suspect he will, the authorities are going to have some explaining to do.

I can recall when the Brits refused entry to Jerry Lee Lewis because his wife was considered under-age. So this is not something new.

It's pretty bad when the Brits call us out on something like this. Shameful.

Times have changed...Jackson can molest kids and go on vacation...Kolbe can rape women and play basketball...They will get off completely or very lightly...The best we can hope for is that once they're gone, we can keep them out of the country...

This really is hard to believe.

Someone charged with multiple felonies who has plenty of money is allowed to leave the country legally.

The only word I can think of is "Shocking", although maybe "disgusting" is better.

Not that Michael could seriously hide in any general population at least not on this planet, but how does someone under indictment get to leave the country --bail or no bail? Wouldn't he at least have to get the court's permission?

I can not believe they let him have his passport back. I can not believe they will let him leave US, knowing that he has been charge. I think there is something wrong with that.

I try not to listen to "news" on all these irrelevant legal cases, but did happen to hear that the D.A.'s excuse for letting him go to the UK is that "the trip was planned before all this came up." Lame reason.
