Civil Rights Leader Blasts Dean for 'N'-word Fund Raiser (It's about time!)

A Washington, D.C.-based civil rights leader is blasting Democratic presidential front-runner Howard Dean for presiding over a fund raiser where blacks were derided as "n----rs," a gay female referred to as "a big lezzie" and presidential rival Joe Lieberman made fun of for being an Orthodox Jew.
"These bigoted and racist attacks upon the Jewish, African-American and Gay Communities for profit are a disgrace and have no place in American politics," complained Kevin Martin, political director of the African-American Republican Leadership Council.
"Howard Dean has shown he is a candidate for racial division and hatred and his supporters are nothing more than the new century's Ku Klux Klan," Martin continued.
Martin's complaint comes as Dean's fellow Democrats, including rival Al Sharpton, have yet to express any outrage over the ugly incident, which took place last Monday and went unnoticed until the New York Post revealed the details this week.
As part of the evening's entertainment, "comedian David Cross used the N-word for blacks in a disjointed 'joke,'" reported the paper's Washington Bureau chief, Deborah Orin.
"Sandra Bernhard insulted Condoleezza Rice in racial terms with a 'Yes Massa' accent at another Dean fundraiser the same night. ... "
Slurs and profanity seemed to be the order of the evening, as Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Mary was derided as "a big lezzie" and President Bush was slammed as 'this piece of living, breathing s---.'"
Dean later described the language as "wrong," adding that he didn't have "much tolerance for ethnic humor."
But the top Democrat's comments did little to assuage Mr. Martin, who observed, "Howard Dean's campaign has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Robert Byrd wing of the Democrat Party is alive and well."

It is funny that the stinky hippie's want to call any minority republican names. They are so hypocritical on any race issue.
To: areafiftyone
This won't really mean anything for the Dean campaign. This was reported on the Rush Limbaugh show the other day. Demos always get lenient treatment when they show their racist colors.

OH WHEN the term "civil rights leader" is not used when referring to a conservative black person in organizations such as P21?Tell me about it - I didn't sign on to P21 as a "civil rights" organization or to become a "civil rights" leader.
The press loves a good pigeon hole.

Foul-mouthed, irreverent humor is de rigeur for the left. Surf over to the Comedy Channel sometime. Check out 'Tough Crowd' and most of the stand-up gigs. It's nothing but sex, cursing, frequent use of racial and sexual epithets and of course, virulent Bush-bashing, ridicule of religion and NRA hatred.

It doesn't make a bit of difference to me what color a person's skin may be; it is how they think that counts! As far as I am concerned, every white democrat is a ni--er!
That there are white N-words is one thing I agree with Byrd on.

Howard Dean is the candidate of the angry white man.
Dean has no gravitas.

Will someone please tell me what Sandra Bernhard has going for her. She's ugly as a bushel of as*holes and is not funny.Either it's the "Car wreck" syndrome (people who don't want to look do and are sickened and then look again) or there are a lot of people in the entertainment industry who are flat out afraid of her but won't admit it.

It is exactly this kind of support, behavior, and hate speech that is going to ensure that Geoprge Bush is re-elected for another term.
Frankly, I'm ready to send the Dean campaign a twenty dollar contribution just to make sure that they keep on talking. If they do, we simply cannot lose!

THe illiteracy level of making free "jokes"/(ugly portrayals) of Condi is enough racism, whether she is black or white.

WE NEED TO MAKE SURE HE GETS THE NOMINATION!!Perhaps you're right, but I'm not so sure. Maybe the best scenario would be for Hitlary to steal the nomination from Dean at the convention (the new rules make this more likely), and the Deaniacs then leave mad, and vote for Nader. That would not only get us a win in '04 but also screw Hitlary long-term.

I can't wait until the mainstream press runs with this story of a civil rights leader pointing out racism in modern America. . .

"... Howard Dean's campaign has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Robert Byrd wing of the Democrat Party is alive and well." I thought that anytime Byrd gets mentioned here, there's supposed to be the obligatory photo of him with his sheet suit.
If the "Ann Coulter/Anna Kornakova rule" doesn't apply to Bryd, it should.

When asked to respond to
Sandra Bernhard's choice
of epithets, Mr. Hanky
declined to comment.
