Let me count the things Saddam Hussein is not. Saddam is not Michael Jackson. Saddam is not Scott Peterson. Saddam is not Kobe or Robert Blake. He isn't Strom Thurmond's illegitimate daughter. He isn't Dennis Kozlowski's birthday party, and he didn't win "Survivor."

before Michael or Kobe or Scott come back and knock Saddam down to mere mentions in the news menu
Too late.
FoxNews is broadcasting live, Kobe, ad-nauseum.
Turned over to MSNBC--after the commercial, Michael Jackson.
The news [yeh, right] channels are obsessed with Kobe, Michael, Scott and seem to think Saddam capture, Iraqi war, Afghan war, War on terrorism are just minor inconveniences in their real news about Kobe, Michael, Scott.

When Bob Bartley died last week Dan Henninger took over as the greatest living editorial columnist in the world.

It has often been said that The Wall Street Journal has the only editorial page that actually sells newspapers. Look for Henninger's "Wonderland" column every Friday.

Thanks again. I see that I can't access the WSJ without a subscription so I'll be counting on my fellow Freepers to keep me posted.

Made mine too!! Especially to know now that it was Saddam in the long run who ratted out, through his briefcase papers, all those terror cells ready to strike our soldiers. It's got to be a burden (slightly) lifted from the soldiers. Still dangerous, but it's GOT to be better than it was.
Poor, Poor DemocRATS. They're running out of things to complain about.
To: TomGuy
Tell me about it .Kobe, Michael, Scott who cares !...I am so tired of the news right now I have switched over to TV LAND.."I Dream of Jeanie" Bonanaza " Bewitched. Good clean humor..

Bottom line: sex sells. Bottom line: "the news" is what sells newspapers and delivers eyeballs to advertisers. And conservatism can't do that, because conservatism is stable and doesn't have something new and different to say for the next deadline. So the things that sell newspapers tend to have anticonservative political implications.
And if politicians align themselves with those political implications, they get good press. Otherwise they get bad press--and are called "right wing extremists."
To: gooleyman
Poor, Poor DemocRATS. They're running out of things to complain about. As the current ad campaign "I would have double-bagged it" "I would have watched out for water mains"
and so forth illustrates, the scope of the Monday morning quarterback is far too wide for us to losing any sleep over the possibilty that they will run out of things to second-guess. Of course the fact that Democrats so heavily depend on the second-guess is the tipoff to the fact that if given power they will use it to help them second-guess more convincingly, rather than to take risks for the hope of benefitting the country.

For once, I find myself
disagreeing with Henniniger this week.
