WASHINGTON -- Democrats who have been forming groups to avoid spending restrictions in the campaign finance law may face bad news: The government's new chief election regulator is warning that their activities could be reined in.

Bradley Smith, the Republican chosen yesterday as chairman of the Federal Election Commission, said he believes a recent Supreme Court ruling may require his agency to limit the groups' activities.

He should drop that bomb.

1) It may work. This would require Howard Mean and Barracks Emporer Wastely Clark to stop using Canadian and Japanese money to run for the US Presidency.

2) It may not work. He ties up several million $$ of Democratic campaign money form Canada and Japan in legal firefights. It also make McPain-Findgold look as badly flawed as it really is.

If the FEC decides that the Supreme Court ruling expands its ability to regulate and limit election activities, the new groups could be forced to return the big checks they have collected

That's gonna hurt Moveon.org's pocketbook

Thanks for posting this.

I really don't believe that rats ever return the money they get that is illegal or smells of Opec Petro Funded Jihadic Terrorism.

The HildeBea$t supposedly returned a big check that she got when she was running for $inator from a US Islamofascist Opec Petro Funded Jihadic Terrorist group.

Later she admitted that she didn't return the money that it was refunded by the DNC. Yeah Sure!

Below is a link to some of this vile recruiting of money in foreign countries.

Brewing MoveOn Scandal Over Foreign Contributions Involves Dean, Clark Campaigns

SPARTANBURG, SC (Talon News) -- Liberal online political group MoveOn.org as well as two major Democrat candidates for president are in the midst of a brewing scandal over potentially improper online contributions received from European citizens who have been encouraged to send money to the group to help defeat President George W. Bush in next year's elections.

In an article posted last week in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, the headline read, "Now you have the chance to leave your mark on Bush."

The story tells Europeans that they have "a chance to defeat [Bush] -- even if you are not an American."

"One dollar for every European citizen would raise more money than the entire official Bush campaign budget for his election in 2000," the website proclaims. "Compare this price to the cost of having Bush in the White House."

Freepers not familiar with this rat scam should go to this thread and some others to see who is involved and the level of involvement.

Would have been nice if this article had mentioned the Moveon.org PAC and other Democrat backers' foreign election contribution funds (they've been removing these from some of the websites but illegal donations have already been accepted).

Let's NOT forget this travesty from the CURRENT ADMINISTRATION::::

Socialist Workers Party gets FEC exemption on revealing donors
Boston Daily News 3 Apr 2003
Sharon Theimer

WASHINGTON (AP) The Socialist Workers Party still faces the danger of harassment and can continue to keep the identity of its donors secret, the Federal Election Commission ruled Thursday.

The commission voted 4-2 to extend the party's long-standing exemption from FEC reporting requirements for political parties, including rules on identifying contributors.

The granting of the six-year extension came despite the opinion of two commissioners that times have changed and the party no longer faces significant harassment from the government.

Commissioner Danny McDonald voted against the extension, saying he saw only evidence of petty harassment of the party in recent years similar to what other political parties have faced. McDonald cited one case in which oranges were thrown at a party activist and another in which activists were cursed by political opponents.

''The true believers, when they send in a check, and they put it in the public record, they know it might be good for business and it might not be,'' McDonald said.

But the majority of the commissioners said that while harassment of the party has diminished, the organization's long history of threats coupled with anecdotal evidence from recent years justified extending the exemption.

Steve Clark, a member of the party's national committee, welcomed the FEC decision, saying that with the war on terrorism increasingly intruding on political activity, his party needed the protection.

''The times change back and forth,'' Clark said. ''Certainly the past year and a half there's been a much more open attempt by the federal government and states and local governments to push back political rights in this country.''

The Socialist Workers Party advocates a Marxist revolution to overthrow the U.S. government. Taking the Russian and Cuban revolutions of the 20th century as models, it wants to replace the country's capitalist system with a government of workers and farmers.

The exemption was first granted by a court in 1979 and last renewed by the commission in 1996.

The party, who counts its members in the hundreds, had candidates on the ballot in congressional and other races around the country last year; none won. It currently is protesting the war in Iraq.

HOW MANY FROM THE DNC ARE SOCIALISTS?

We will never know with this ruling.
