Bush, Sharon to share Saddam's fate, Khamenei says

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran's supreme leader, in his first public comments since the capture of Saddam Hussein, said on Tuesday that George W. Bush and Israel's Ariel Sharon would suffer the same fate as the former Iraqi leader.

Addressing a crowd of thousands in the city of Qazvin, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei expressed joy over the arrest of Saddam, who invaded Iran's fledgling Islamic republic in 1980, starting an eight-year war that left hundreds of thousands dead.

"Now that he has been captured, the Islamic world and all those who know what a savage animal he was feel delighted," Khamenei said in a speech broadcast live on state television.

"The Iraqi nation has suffered greatly under this bloodthirsty wolf. Now it is apparently free of him."

But Khamenei also used Saddam's downfall to take a swipe at Iran's two other great political enemies -- the United States and Israel -- by condemning their respective leaders, President Bush and Prime Minister Sharon.

"I heard the U.S. president saying the world is a better place without Saddam. I want the U.S. president to know that a world without Bush and Sharon is a much better place," he said.

"All of those who are ruling the world arrogantly like a dictator in the name of improving democracy and human rights... should know that they will not enjoy a better ending than Saddam," he added.

Iran's government on Monday called for Saddam to be tried in an international court and said it was preparing a case against him for crimes committed during the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.

So, some US Troops are gonna hop on a boat to DC and some others onto a plane to Tel Aviv and "capture" Bush and Sharon?

OKAY, next?

and i suppose for this khamenei hopes to claim 2 times $25 mil?

"I heard the U.S. president saying the world is a better place without Saddam. I want the U.S. president to know that a world without Bush and Sharon is a much better place," he said. You could have put this quote on the website of any of the dems running for the nomination, and no one would be able to tell the difference. It further underscores the point that the left here in the U.S. and our foreign enemies share a common goal.

The Ayatollah should loosen his turban a little as it appears it's shutting off the blood supply to his brain.

I think he's on a rant because his fellow dictator is getting all the headlines now.

What fools these morons be.

I'm sure that Bush and Sharon are wondering when they are going to become absolute dictators of their respective countries, be able to kill or otherwise silence their opponents, get to live in any one of dozens of ultra-luxurious palaces and have a few billion dollars in secret bank accounts. After that they'll worry...

In all seriousness, this joker is almost as good as Hussein in denying reality...and he is approaching Hussein's pre-war stupidity and arrogance by brazenly supporting terrorism everywhere. I think that Khamenei is whistling past the graveyard, as he's far more likely to end up in a latrine looking like an old alchy streetbum - if, that is, his own people don't do a Mussolini on him.

Yes.. how dare those bastards promote such heinous ideals as democracy and human rights. We all know how oppressive those free societies are, after all...
