Saddam Hussein Captured On December 13th, 2003, nine months after coalition forces invaded Iraq to end the threat of Saddam Hussein's Ba'athist regime...and seven and one-half months after major combat operations ended, Saddam Hussein, hiding in a dank hole, dishevealed and unkempt, was captured by US 4th Infantry Division forces. These pictures show where he was captured, his condition upon capture and after he was cleaned up, the coalition force announcement in Iraq, the jubilation amongst Iraqis, and the President as he announced it to the American people.

Thanbk you each. I felt that the occassion needed to be recorded and since I have that site already commemorating the entire operation...it was a natural.
Despite my other misgivings (some of them serious) about Bush's policies on campaign financr reform, immigration, offshore outsourcing (particularly to the PRC), his statement on the AWB, certain provisions of the patriot act, etc...he is still far better than Gore would have been or Dean and his ilk ever would be. He has also taken the fight directly to these animal enemies and their supporters in Afghanistan and Iraq and the credit for that is well deserved.

Yea...there is [sarcasm] so much livd hatred and anti-american sentiment on display there [/sarcasm].
To be sure, that one lady with the sign is a refugee Iraqi in Michigan I believe...but she is no less telling as a result of what went down on Saturday.

Thanks for the pings, Jeff. Appreciate it.
What a great weekend for the country and the world.
Great Job by the US military. You could literally see the air escaping and the disappointment and costernation on the part of those who would've preferred the hunt for Saddam to go on til the next election.
How Awesome is this?
To: Diogenesis
Thank YOU, Diogenesis! You were so quick with the pics yesterday...it inspired thousands and thousands.
Your "Gotta See This" threads are some of the best on FR as far as I am concerned.
They should all be archived by topic for Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. I guess with keywords they already are.

Thanks Jeff. Snippy and I really found we really enjoy doing the Foxhole. It's a learning experience for us too.

You are very welcome. It was very historic, for the UNiteds States, this administration, all of those who have supported us and the Iraqi people...and by extension to the whole world.
If we stay the course, there is great hope for even more historic moments to come...like an honest to goodness constitutional republic in Iraq that recognizes and respects the unalienable rights of its citizens (including to free speech, defense, freedom of religion, etc.) in the heart of the Mid East.
How awesome will that be?
To: SAMWolf
See my post number 30...it's for both of you.

I agree with this post. Whatever my issues are with GW as of late, I believe in my heart we are safer today as a result of his leadership throughout the war.
My domestic concerns are pretty big, and I am hoping he will come around.
Overall ,I am still thankful that Gore did not get away with it!
To: Jeff Head
Thanks so much, Jeff. This is so great!
