[history]
The phone rang about 5:30 Sunday morning. It was my friend Kim calling to let us know they'd caught Saddam Hussein. She sounded pumped, excited. Finally some good news out of Iraq.
I wasn't convinced. I hung up, turned on the TV, and the cynicism kicked in.

Back in the summer, a friend admitted that she was actually taking comfort from the terrible news coming out of Iraq and Afghanistan. She'd hear about explosions, ambushes, the killing of U.N. officials, pro-American Iraqis, innocent children, and she was saddened by the deaths. But ultimately she thought it was a good thing. She'd thought that enough bloodshed and disaster would create a movement in this country, a demand to get our people home and save some lives. Maybe enough death would wake folks up to the fact that we have no business running around the globe killing people. Liberals showing there true colors.

This dweeb must feel especially embarassed about the memo reported yesterday showing a 9/11 terrorist tied directly to Hussein's regime.
Then again, embarassment would require some type of conscience.

I'm sure you know this as well as I do, but for the benefit of non-Iowa Freepers, this guy writes the local "big wig" name dropping gossip column in the Des Moines Register. 'Nuf said.

Yep the only person in Iowa more liberal than him is his wife, and she writes even worse garbage for this ultra-liberal rag.

Denial of reality is a common reaction of brainwashed cult members to the heresy of truth.

She'd thought that enough bloodshed and disaster would ... save some lives. Gee, I think that Lenin, Stalin, and Mao said the same thing. The Left is pure evil.

Said Burton: "This is a great thing. It makes the world a safer place and it makes the U.S. stronger." But this helps the president. Doesn't this hurt your candidate?
Yeah, that's what really matters, isn't it.
Hey, stupid. You aren't supposed to be that honest in public. Not that America isn't wise to the likes of you.
Let's face it. The Democrats are just beside themselves at all the good news.
Oh yeah. May your friend who applauded the attacks on out troops as a "good thing" die slowly and painfully.

I don't know anything about the Des Moines Register. I can see how some fool could write this silly whine. I just can't see how any publication would let it pe printed and released.

I've been burned a few times... He hasn't been "burned". But three thousand people were on 9/11. And since then there has not been any major terrorist event here in the states. Why not? Because of "these guys" he seems to castigate.
It's gotten to that point with me. I've been burned a few times and no... I've talked to a lot of people who feel the same way.
What? He "talked to a lot of people"? What's a lot? Then this guy gets to write this garbage in some newspaper? As if his chit-chats with a few people actually mean anything? And who are these people he "talked to"? Other retards like himself? What a farce!

I have a co-worker who is liberal.
He was saying something like "Bush was just doing it to make his daddy proud...finishing his work..."
I said back "Man, if Gore was in office, he would have finished Clintons work by letting Monica have his baby.."
Everyone was laughing except for him.

"Not at all. The capture of Saddam is not enough to paper over the president's miserable record on the economy." Hilarious. The economy is simply booming. I suppose lies like this require more than a little delusion.

This paragraph stuck out in my mind when reading this article and I believe it represents the sentiments of most Democrat activists.
In any of Clinton's military exploits overseas, did I wish death on civilians nor our military serving this poor commander and chief.
Hate and revenge are powerful emotions and can literally drive someone crazy as evidenced by this reporter's friend state of mind.

The morning Register and afternoon Tribune were once THE statewide newspapers of record. After the Tribune went out of business and Gannett took over the Register, its Leftist take on the news has reduced coverage to Polk and Warren counties and that's about it.

This is typical of the twisted, convoluted reasoning of the left.

Is this just one big stunt to raise Bush's poll numbers? I'll bet this was a big fan of Bubba's who wouldn't go to the head without first taking a poll. There is no indicatioh the Prsident Bush conducts business like that.

Maybe you can pass along to the Author the fact that this devestating economy brought to us by Bush is now known with the final "hard" evidence (Commerce Department's Bureau of Economic Analysis) and not the estimated guesses that he has been hanging his hat on the following:
The downturn of the economy began in the July - September quarter of 2000 which is 3 to 5 months in advance of the Presidential Election and 5-7 months before the inaguaration.
It was the "TaxCut" (yes tax cut) of 2001 that caused the recession to be much weaker than originally stated and propogated by the left. and the tax cut of 2003 that kicked in the roaring recovery that will lead to sustainable job growth, all at the dismay of 9 or 10 Democrats that hold their own jobs in higher priority than the American public.
