[history]
The capture of Saddam Hussein boosted confidence among Americans polled Sunday, most of whom agreed the Iraqi war was worth fighting and the search for weapons of mass destruction would be successful.
The respondents also were confident that Iraq would establish a stable government and that the United States would find al Qaeda terror leader Osama bin Laden.

"An overwhelming majority -- 82 percent -- believed Saddam's capture was a "major achievement." " I really do not want to run across those 18% who did not believe it was a "major achievement". Can you imagine CNN running a poll after Hitler was found in his bunker, and 18% of the people saying it wasn't a "major achievement"?

The margin of error on this poll should be 20 percent, not 4 percent. Polling on Sunday afternoon during Christmas season? I suspect the support for Bush and Iraq war has gone up much more than this poll suggests. Weekend polling always underpolls Republicans, and holiday season probably makes it even worse.

http://mcj.bloghorn.com/402 I find it savagely ironic that
(1) people who claimed that Saddam Hussein was no threat to any other countries now think other countries should have a part in his trial,
(2) people who want Iraqis to run their own affairs right now don't want them to run this trial and,
(3) people actually think that the UN should try him for the crimes it consistently refused to do anything about.

45 percent said they were planning to vote to re-elect Bush next year, even before the capture, while 43 said they hadn't planned to vote for him, and still won't.
hmmm...wonder who their choice of candidate is?

I really do not want to run across those 18% who did not believe it was a "major achievement". That 18% number keeps coming up in polls of this sort; I call them the Klinton-Gore constituency. It's why no president will ever have higher than 82% approval rating. 82% is 100% of the functioning adults in this country.

That means half of these loons had a brief moment of sanity back in 1991 before falling off the wagon again.

They are easy to find. They are all at DU. The hate America first crowd. For all the DU'ers insistance they don't hate their own country, their own arguments and posts give the lie to that.
They hate this country, disapprove of everything it does or is, hate and ridicule people of faith (how they hate Lieberman!), and truly believe there is nothing remarkable or wonderful about the American way of life except for diversity - of color, race or sex, not of independent thought.
They certainly don't believe in moral superiority - if they had their way, dictators, tyrants, and islamofacists who oppress their people would never be judged for what they do. If anyone helps a nation rid themselves of corruption like this they are "imperialists". I guess they think people would rather live under tyranny than go through the painful process of ridding themselves of it.
The only people they like to judge are people who believe in good or evil, or republicans, Christians, white men, or heterosexual families. No wonder they hate Bush so much - he is all of these.

I really do not want to run across those 18% who did not believe it was a "major achievement".You can, they consist mainly as Democrat Party Operatives, mainstream press reporters (I know that is redundant) and know-it-alls like Chuck Hagel, Republican from Nebraska.

I know two or three RATS that would be in that 18% it is not hard to hear folks who are angry acting like spoiled children.
