Readers are invited to send in the most strained and mealy-mouthed statements from the devastated press and anti-war politicians and activists following the capture of Saddam. First up: Saddam's paid-up British anti-war activist, George Galloway: "This will not stop the Iraqi resistance. if anything, it may set the resistance free, if you like, from the cloud of Saddam Hussein, and transform it into a purely national resistance movement without the charge that it's being controlled from behind by the deposed president." Galloway must be worried sick about what Saddam might tell the coalition. So must Chirac. - 4:23:59 PM

I heard that NPR broadcast. I couldn't believe the things he was saying. He also said that "some Iraqis" are happy about the capture and went on to talk about how this will not fix the electricity, gas lines, bla bla bla. You could hear the despair and depression in his voice.

I think Bush timed the tax cuts and the recovery too for political effect.
His evil plot to defend our nation and imporve our economy just so he could get re-elected thickens!!
btw I love your tag line ... It was done "in my name" too.
"Liberate Iraq" is now "Liberated Iraq"

We sure wouldn't want these cowardly murderers to be unfairly charged with being controlled by Saddam! (sheesh)

"Iraq declared Saddam Hussein the winner Wednesday - by an 11 million-to-0 margin - in a war-shadowed referendum on his two-decade military rule, sending celebratory gunfire crackling from the streets and rooftops of Baghdad." - AP Thursday, October 17, 2002

Someone on TV just praised Biden. He said that Biden (and emphasized that Biden wasn't running for President) has been the only one on that side who congratualted Bush and recognized that this was a very positive event. The commentator (could have been Green on CNN) went on to say that there was at least one dem "acting like a grownup." Yep, actual words!

More will be learned from people around the programs who are no longer afraid to talk than from Saddam himself.
On another note, notice how the local intel picked up after Bush's visit to Iraq.

I saw the Biden piece. He was surpisingly apolitical about the whole deal. The only Dem all day not spinning.

That's been a dirty secret of some of the Saddamites' support for the dictator; Iraq was a socialist nation. There was a reason they protested the "war" internationally at Red holidays like May Day and International Woman's Day.

PING me when Moron.org steps up to say that Saddam Hussein has done some horrible things but that what is needed is "Censure and Move On...".

I just don't get the fixation with DU. If DU is so wonderful, why don't those who extol their virtues just stay there? Personally, I don't want that anti-American crap in my face. This is not the place for that.

I think it's just the natural human desire to see those who are wrong, stupid and perhaps evil, squirm in agony and defeat! I think it's kind of cute.
(The leftists themselves, aren't cute, but their discomfiture is nice to see. I can't deny that I like to smell burnt liberal in the morning!)
To: little jeremiah
I think it's kind of cute.Cute is when my cat nibbles on my fingers at 4 am for my attention. DU is not cute. They are a bunch of misguided illiterate yahoos who wouldn't know how to land a decent job if they were given it.
To: MrsEmmaPeel
I know that DUers aren't cute (far, far from it!). I was attempting a little humor - and just a little enjoyment at the despair and hollow empty loser feeling they must be experiencing! I long to see their defeat in Nov. 04.

Among the ABC radio "news" reporting of the capture there was the nonchalant report that the capture will help the President politically.
Help the President politically?!!
We are in a war arguably the most dangerous foreign war we have ever faced -- not just Iraq but the entire war to defend against radical Islam and our own internal enemies -- and the mainstream talks politics!!
If the politicians take up that or a similar theme then this is no different from the Vietnam era. No wonder General Franks (retired) warns that a WMD attack here will mean the end of the Constitution for the duration. Adults will take charge.
