LEESBURG, VA

17 year old Loudoun County Girl Gone. Missing Since Friday

A 17 Year old Loudoun County girl has been missing since Friday, December 12, 2003. Christa was last seen Friday morning at Dulles Town Center Mall in Sterling, Virginia. She had driven to the mall in a 1993 green Ford Escort Wagon and developed car trouble along the way. She arrived at the mall at approximately 10:00 am, went in to pick up a package and was seen as very distraught by associates in the mall. She was given directions to a local auto parts store in Sterling and left the mall with her package. She has not been seen since.

The car she was driving was found on Shaker Woods at Wiehle Avenue in Reston, Virginia. According to neighbors, the car was left around 11:00 am parked in a turn lane at a 45 degree angle and must have been left in neutral gear as it apparently rolled into a ditch and became stuck later that afternoon. The car was found Saturday afternoon by Fairfax County Police unlocked with the keys in the ignition and her package still in the backseat.

Her family was notified and retrieved the vehicle. Friends and family have had no word from her at all.

Leesburg Police Officer, Corey Smith is heading up the investigation into Christa?s disappearance. Police have actively pursued several leads but have had no luck into locating the missing girl.

Christa is 5?7? tall, reddish brown hair, medium build. She wears braces and occasionally wire-rimmed glasses. She is possibly wearing a yellow and navy blue Tommy Hilfiger jacket and jeans.

Her distraught family and friends are desperately appealing to the public to give any information regarding Christa and her whereabouts to the Leesburg Police Department or any Local law enforcement agency as she is listed regionally as a missing person.

Prayers going up for Christa. Is 17 too old for an Amber Alert?

I just saw the news on Channel 8. Her name is Christa Rogaliner, and they mentioned she's been missing since Friday and to contact the Leesburg police. There is no related article on news8.net.

I never said it was a hoax.
God forbid.
I do think it is strange that the person who started this
thread with a "headline" that says "OUR CHILD IS MISSING"
along with a story that reads in 'third person' not like
it is actually the poster's child but like it is a story
they have copied and pasted from some unknown source and
then the orignal poster never even came back to the thread
to say where they got the information in the first place.

Here is an organization hat helps parents of older children who are missing:

http://rachelalert.org/

Unlike the Amber Alert, there are no age restrictions.

Can someone tell the Rogaliners about the Rachel Alert Network?

Mission Statement

EVERY MISSING PERSON IS SOMEONE'S CHILD.

The Rachel Alert Network, or RAN, is a charitable organization which helps prevent abductions through awareness education and provides information to friends and families of abducted persons. Assistance may be in the form of manuals that are downloaded or pointers to other organizations that can help with missing person posters, searches, presentations, speeches, publicity, victims' rights, and many other tasks. Financial aid and other forms of assistance may also be provided to other agencies to help in abduction prevention and in finding missing persons.

Robert and Janet Cooke, the parents of missing youth Rachel Cooke, formed this organization in 2002 to help other parents and loved ones of missing persons. The Cookes' personal experiences with law enforcement, the media, search groups and victims' rights groups are documented here. There is also helpful data gathered from other people, organizations and books.

In addition to providing information, RAN is dedicated to providing equal assistance to everyone. This assistance is provided regardless of age, race, sex, family income, location, or religion. RAN is committed to changing laws and meeting with the media to change the way some missing people are not given a fair chance.

There is nothing worse than losing a loved one through an abduction. Not knowing his or her whereabouts is one of the most traumatic feelings possible. The Rachel Alert Network is here to help those people in any way possible.

Rachel Alert Network is a 501C(3) nonprofit corporation. Our 501C(3) documentation

I didn't mean to imply that you had. Lots of other comments questioned the report, so as soon as I heard something on "real" media - I posted it. Unfortunately for folks in this area, a missing kid doesn't hold as much importance to news folks as the big Redskins v. Cowboys rivalry and the icy weather. I just watched probably 5 minutes of "on scene reporting" by newsbabes standing at major intersections in DC area talking about black ice; and nothing about a seventeen year old girl missing since Friday.

It is always frustrating to think someone is out there somewhere that could use someone's help and all any of us can do is sit around and watch the story unfold. It is frustrating that all we can do is commisserate with one another about it and 'hope' while full well knowing that these stories usually do not turn out the way we would like.
Oddly worse than that (for me anyway) is how you hear about stories like this that you never ever find out in the end what happened. Like that 'Alice' girl that went missing and they caught those two guys but as far as I know, they have never found her. Lady Pilgrim was on this thread earlier and I remember following that story hoping all along it would turn out ok. Her situation was one of the rare ones where her loved one was found.

There may have been a good reason for a news black-out, if such occurred. That would mean that the local police and the are not too happy about the banner headline here, complete with telephone number, last name, etc.

But who knows about anything anymore? One less missing child is not a bad thing. Let's hope that such is the case.......

WMAL AM 630 radio. Now there's gold-standard source. I wonder if the evening slot whiner, what's-his-name, is on the case.

The memory of WMAL's handling of the "DC sniper" case still amkes me want to puke.

They cut off every voice or reason that was hapless enough to call their shows, AM through PM. And now their rush-hour show, run by Chris Core, I believe, is a daily whine-fest that gives voice to members of the intellectually marginal segment of society who neither do their homework or think things through prior to calling in about the latest, usually-local pet-peeve of the host.

At least, that's how it was when I "fired" that show from my radio dial more than a year ago....

"Still odd that it never made the news and she's not on any missing persons list.Good night and Good luck."

Missed your earlier post; but a number of reasons made this request look strange.

That said, I hope she had a reason to go 'somewhere'; but even if only 'God knows where'; then I hope His help is on the way; guiding hearts and feet to her.

But if she was upset, leaving the mall in a hurry, hopefully she got a call on a cell phone police can trace?
