SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED
Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been captured in his home town of Tikrit, according to reports.
There has been no independent verification of the news but Sky New's Foreign Editor Tim Marshall says the source of the news is usually reliable.
The US Defence Department says it has had no confirmation of the claims, which come from Iraqi Kurd leader Jalal Talabani, says the Iran news agency IRNA.
Hundreds of exultant people have taken to the streets of Kirkuk, firing weapons into the air in celebration.
A press conference has been announced for 12pm GMT.
In Baghdad, a spokeswoman for the US-led operation notified reporters that a "very important" announcement will be made at the press conference.

It is taking all my willpower not to wake you up!!!!
You should wake her to the lies told by the Americans.
It is taking all Iraq's willpower not to devour the heart of America.
I predict, as usual, that they will all die.

Hundreds of Iraqi children were killed from celebratory fire? Ok, show me the fact that these children were killed.
For you to equate this, with gun control in USA, is ludicrous.
Are you insane?

The only thing that's sad is the gallons of blood on that man's hands. Although our media has done a piss-poor job of reporting it, there have been over 300,000 bodies found in Saddam's mass graves men, women, children and, yes, infants. Who knows how many more are buried in the deserts of Iraq. Then count the many hundreds of thousands of the yet-living who were tortured, raped and maimed under his regime. No, nothing sad about this. It's cause for celebration by right-thinking people everywhere.

That's what my Mom just told me. :-)
Darn it, they SHOULD cancel finals for this. I would! They cancelled class for an OU-over-Texas victory two years ago, and this is SOOOOO much bigger!

Bret B. on FoxNews: Reporters jumped up and started screaming, celebrating when they saw the video of Saddam at the press briefing.
Bless our troops and civilian workers in Iraq!
Jim A.: A huge change in the morale of the Iraqi people. "It really is a major turning point...in the way the Iraqis look at the future and in the ability to stop the violence that has plagued US forces for so long."
Shep Smith:"Death to Saddam" was the first message Iraqis got from their own media.
First message from the US to the world: "LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, WE'VE GOT HIM."

Howie Dean is going to be releasing a statement that the capture of Saddam was illegal and Senator Kennedy will sue to see Saddam released on grounds he was drunk in the Kennedy compound and not consulted as a drunken Kennedy is supposed to be.My prediction is that you're going to see a lot of them, especially the media whores and Hollywood nitwits, try and play this off like they were "with us" the whole time.
Watch. You'll see it over the next few days. "See?! We were on your side the whole time! Yay USA!"
Sorry twits...it's not going to go down like that. We at FR have extensive archives that clearly state what you've said. We will remind you, if need be, should you decide to play the role of "revisionist" and bury your own past...so don't even try it!

Hundreds of Iraqi children were killed from celebratory fire? Ok, show me the fact that these children were killed. I don't know about 'hundreds of children' but I seem to remember 36 people being killed after Iraq won an international soccer game not too long ago. You can't just fire bullets into the air in the middle of a city of millions.

What a day to sleep in! Normally I put the TV on at the latest by 6:00, however, I'm so sick of the F & F's morning weekend crew, I waited. When I heard Shep's voice before the picture came on, I thought, 'something's going on......what does that say at the bottom?????' WE GOT HIM!!!!!
