SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED
Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been captured in his home town of Tikrit, according to reports.
There has been no independent verification of the news but Sky New's Foreign Editor Tim Marshall says the source of the news is usually reliable.
The US Defence Department says it has had no confirmation of the claims, which come from Iraqi Kurd leader Jalal Talabani, says the Iran news agency IRNA.
Hundreds of exultant people have taken to the streets of Kirkuk, firing weapons into the air in celebration.
A press conference has been announced for 12pm GMT.
In Baghdad, a spokeswoman for the US-led operation notified reporters that a "very important" announcement will be made at the press conference.

Great verse!
Fox is reporting that my beloved Tony Blair has confirmed it is Saddam. Tried to wake up hubby & the kid to tell them. I guess after the press conference I can call my early bird friend and tell her. I could probably call her right now, but I'll wait a bit.

Could very well be.

Fox says we've had him for over 12 hours. That's plenty of time for any type of DNA testing.

Third stanza? You sure don't hear that one too often.
I thought that one was appropriate for them today. I'm also thinking that there is some "trampling out the vintage" going on today too.

As much as I don't like Rather, the reporter in him comes out at times like this. No sign of Peter Jennings or Tom Brokaw yet.

Oh no. Not the last one. Let the Iraqi people handle him, and met out their justice. 8-)

The only thing that brings me more pleasure than knowing Saddam is in custody is knowing how much pain the DUers are suffering as a result...without having to go there myself. Thank you. Would you care for some Febreeze?
Seriously, this is a great thing, just a great thing. If the liberals insist on seeing it as a tragedy or insist on downplaying the great job our troops did on this one, that's just sad for them. Pathetic. Like wanting to keep counting the hanging chads to divine the original intent of the voter.
