No, jerkoff.Ok, so you've degenerated to namecalling. Nice. I will now, based on that, ignore naything else you might have to say on the subject. Get back to me when you can act like a grown up.

He pinged a widow to his malicious post attacking the memory of her not yet buried husband. Are you sure he was attacking? Dane does tend to be a little bit blunt and gruff - that's how he is. Could it be that he was, in his blunt gruff way, trying to tell her that she is not to blame? I son't know. Why not ask him, instead of attacking him outright?
It is a pre-meditated sadistic act that was not a genuine expression of thought.
Are you sure? Or was that just how you read it?

True depression isn't about doubt. It's more to do with despair, combined with mental fatigue and more problems than a person can juggle at one time. It's a medical condition caused by chemical imbalances more often than a psychological condition. If one has those imbalances, even life's minor aggravations can drive people into a very dark state. There are medications that help.

Yeah. A post to her saying that her husband was not mentally ill because it is a conspiracy and does not really exist... so he will magnanimously give out his pastors number to 'straighten her out' and show her he was delusional and not sick... that was meant to help.
How about leaving her alone?

I've lost count of the FReepmails and posts I've gotten in the last six months, from FReepers I don't even know saying things like, "I'm related to the man/woman/child in this news article, and you have offended me blah blah blah... and why don't you stop commenting on this article out of respect for our feelings..." and I think I've just reached the point where I'm fed up with it...

You're right...
Tact isn't your strongest suit, mate.

"As I said, I don't know if you are better off with treatment or just toughing it out but it exists and isn't any different than any other PHYSICAL disease. It isn't because you're weak or stupid or emotional, I think is is chemical and I don't think the medical community really knows enough yet. Some of the drugs they prescribe are as harmful as the depression and make you feel physically worse."
Thank you. That is an excellent analysis.

Sure, but then again, she was all over the other thread pouring out everything about herself - if she wanted to be left alone, I'd have to say she went about it in an unusual way...

You are spot on. Dane was angry that someone could hurt another person so horribly. He sent prayers her way, etc. My read was that she wasn't to blame.
I don't think Dane was trying to hurt anyone, least of all Mrs. Chris.

Well, I was upfront about it.
I am, however, sorry for the loss you have suffered, and if you ever need anything, let me know, ok? I'm not the monster I am made out to be... just, well, opinionated.

My take is rather simplistic: Depressive thoughts are the devil trying to distract us from our God-given assignment, which is to live our lives to the best Good possible. I used to allow, and even pursue, thoughts that made me unhappy. Now I simply realize that they are the devil trying to steal my energy from the good that I could be doing; "Get thee behind me Satan", and get on with God's business: doing the best I can with the life God has given me.

And it is a shame your 'Christian' Counsellor didnt send you to Jesus instead of Freud. On the contrary...I fought tooth-n-nail about seeing any counselor in the first place because my new life with God was very precious to me and I didn't want secular mumbo-jumbo tainting that. It was after my Christian friend remembered another mentioning this particular Christian counselor that I relented.
It turned out to be one of the blessings in all this - once the medicines helped me get back some control, our sessions at times were more bible studies than anything because I wanted to know how to deal with everything in a Christian way. And because he was a professional, he had the authority to request time off for me, which was months at a time. It is something a pastor wouldn't have been able to do. Thanks to my counselor, I still have my job and am able to deal with the stresses better than I had before the breakdown. Finally, he helped find the root of my problems and sent me to another Christian who deals specifically in that area. Between the two of them, I doubt God could have sent me to a pair of Christians who were strangers to me that I could trust so deeply.
You may not have seen my earlier post on this thread - I have been off all meds for a year now. I am very aware of the physical symptoms of this illness and do what I need to when red flags start flying. I think much straighter than ever but cannot control the physical aspect of it all. It doesn't take much to get to the point of "running on fumes" and with a home and job at stake, I won't hesitate getting extra help from medicines if after all I can do still isn't enough. "Body of death" as Paul describes it, it's going to continue to break down and fail me. I will use what God has shown me to work, regardless of what others like you think.

I did not mention any names, just behavior.
But go ahead, ping your buddy you are defending for abusing a widow.
Glad you are so concerned about HIM, while getting on a widow.

I only pinged him because I was talking about him. We call that courtesy. Secondly, I thought I'd give him a chance to conform or deny what I said.
I'm not "getting on" anyone. Well, maybe you ;0)
