And yes, there is a left and a right. Along with a right and a wrong and good vs evil. And I sincerely believe that the party of the left is the party of the Democrats and the party of the Democrats is so left and so wrong that it is officially evil.
For example, the official Democrat Party platform supports and promotes abortion as a "constitutional right." I sincerely doubt that's what Jefferson had in mind when he said we were all endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. No way am I going to believe that God endowed us with a "right" to kill our unborn children and no way do I believe our Founders intended "privacy" to mean a mother can kill her child.
The party of the left (the official Democrat Party) is now so close to communism you can barely detect any difference. Many of their elected leaders are, in fact, card carrying socialists. They hate America. They hate God. They hate our Constitution. They love abortion, homosexualism, extremist evironmentalism, socialism, gun-control, the United Nations, atheism, corruption, you name the evil -- they love it. The standard issue Democrat official has never met a communist dictator he didn't love. They use any means available to destroy our moral society and our traditional American values. They desire to bring America down and to subjugate us to various socialist world government organizations.
You can pooh pooh it all day long, but the Republicans have battled against all of this for the last 70 years or more. Sure, certain elements within the Republican party are liberal, and they've managed to set us back, but don't forget that the Democrats have held the majority of the power for most of the those 70 years. Without the Republican opposition, we would've already lost all to the communists. In fact, had it not been for the Republican Ronald Reagan, we probably would've lost the Cold War. Had McGovern made it to the presidency, our children would be speaking Russian by now.
No thank you. We do still have the vote and I intend to use it against the liberal/socialist/leftist Democrats. And I encourage as many like-minded conservatives as possible to do the same thing. The godless commie-loving rat bastards are evil. Vote them out!

Look at the history of the congresses over the past 70+ years,
starting with the 72nd congress. Also, notice the wide margins at times in which they controlled, for example, the 75th congress: 89 republicans, 333 democrats, and 13 others.
The senate has similar numbers. Since 1933, the democrats had control of the House except for the 83rd, 107th and 108th congress. The 83rd was struggling over McCarthy, and that lasted 2 short years. So, for the past three years, the republicans were supposed to turn around this liberal monster around. In three years? The majority of sheeple would not go for the removal of all their social welfare programs. The liberal monster has infiltrated all aspects of our society. I'm surprised after reviewing just how much power the Democrats had there are any conservatives left. We hung on to fight, and we should not quit after only 3 years of control.
Also, think back to 1936. I don't believe the democrats had been infighting publicly the way the conservatives are today. They understood the plan. Incrementalism and keep your fights private, appear united. Which is exactly the tactic we have to use in order to return our country back to it's original intent.
It is feasible for the republicans to turn around 70 years of socialism. It is not going to be done in a couple years. I wish it were otherwise, but we have to be pragmatic. I'm sticking with the republicans because they have the infrastructure in place. Use the Republican party to advance conservatism, like the socialists and commies use the Democrats. Take advantage of it.

Thanks for posting that table. I thought of posting it, but it seemed too large.
Aren't some of those numbers incredible? And to think, we should be able to do what dems did over 70 years in three years. Remember the 107th senate mess with Jeffords giving the senate to the dems, etc? They are desperate to do anything. And, by passing CFR, hopefully more people will wake up to what's really going on with their elected officials. I know we are desperately trying to oust feingold here, looks like he might have a little trouble in the next election. I hope so.

I wonder if you're familiar with the Lakota tribal wisdom that says that when you discover you are riding a dead horse, the best strategy is to dismount. You however seem to be urging the policy followed in many more progressive organisations, where more creative strategies for dead horses are used, including the following;
* Buying a stronger whip.
* Changing riders.
* Saying things like, "This is the way we always have ridden this horse."
* Appointing a committee to study the horse.
* Arranging to visit other companies to see how they ride dead horses.
* Increasing the standards to ride dead horses.
* Appointing a tiger team to revive the dead horse.
* Creating a training session to increase our riding ability.
* Issue a memo declaring that "This horse is not dead."
* Harnessing several dead horses together for increased speed.
* Change the performance requirements for horses.
* Promote the dead horse to a supervisory position.

I am hoping that the troubled times that are happening now (and likely to increase) are like a healing crisis in a patient with a grave illness. Sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better. Or like a drug addict or alcoholic - they say that sometimes addicts have to "hit bottom" before they make the changes needed to climb out.
There isn't one aspect of social or political life that seems healthy - some areas worse than others. One thing I constantly remember - the world isn't meant to be a playhouse, it's more of an educational institution. Or reform school!

You have mailed this exactly.What people do not want to recall is 1994 when Newt decided he had a a mandate to go whole hog. no, he had a mandate to bring order to the asylum and he failed to do this through hubris,miscalculation and his own persona facing himself.
The Dims did not get all they wanted in 3 years, you're correct, it took 30 from the New Deal to the Great society, and another 35 or so to reach this point, 3 to 4 generations ,minimum,It'll take that long to bring it back to a reasonable conservative balance.
Only fools or the immature expect drastic change at the drop of the political hat.

There are two basic rolls for political activists.
The first is to elect the people most in tune with their views. Nothing happens until someone is elected. That means effective activists have to support candidates the voters will elect. Voting for losers to send a message sends the message that your vote and support is of no consequence.
The other and most important thing to recognize is that this is a nation of the people, for the people, and by the people. Thus to effect change one must get the support of the people.
The reason to run for office is to win. Running for office with the intent to lose has no meaning. So viable candidates will always try to appeal to a majority to voters. If a majority of the voters share your positions politicians will fight to do your will. IF they do not, politicians will fight to deny your will.
Activists in a minority position, as conservatives are, must first move enough voters to their position to effect a majority at the polls. When that is done candidates who agree with you in nearly all particulars will come out to the woodwork to run win and enact your agenda.
Winning candidates in the US always learn the views of the public first, and then adopt them to gain support.
As long as conservatives long for a leader who will buck public opinion to do "what is right" they will only endure defeat.
The key is to not try to run for office or even influence those that run for office. The key is to change public opinion.
While the right was putting its faith in the words in the constitution, the left was gaining control of the media, education, and the courts. They were able to do this because they gained majority support among the voters. Once they control the media, the schools and the courts the constitution is a worthless document. If you don't believe me ask Sandra Day O'Conner how that works in the case of CFR. She understands it perfectly.
The only way to reverse that is to gain public support, then take back the media, the schools and the courts. There have been just two oportunties in the last 20 years. The good news is we are using them both.
The first was the total decline in AM radio, such that those who control the media thought it was not worth anything. The right gained control of that medium and used it to garner millions to the cause. The second was the advent of the internet finally taking the monopoly of information control away from the left.
As these two media are used to change public opinions, things will change. No government can stand without public support. The absolute power fo the Soviet Union could not stand up to its weak, poor, and unarmed citizens when they refused to accept its authority. It fell. You would not think the Soviet Union's power would have collapsed when it lost the support of its lowly citizens, but it did. All nations governments exist and exercise power at the pleasure of its citizens. Goverments try very hard to hide that fact. But it is true. All governemnts get their power from the governed. When the governed take their power back, the goverment falls.
Here in the United states we have a representative republic. We can change the way our government rules with votes. Until we convert a majority of voters to our views, we will only fail.
So the goal must be two fold. First ELECT the best candidate we can ELECT. Not the one we like best... The best we can elect. But that is just a secondary goal. The primary goal is to change the minds of the bosses of this nation. The real rulers of this nation are the voters. Once we have a majority of them in our corner the fight is won.... until someone changes their minds again.
