It's time to move beyond a war that was fought more than a century ago.

Clueless...

I'm not an apologists for the Confederate battle flag, but this school ruling is absurd. This ranks right up with the ruling last week by a school board to uphold the suspension of the girl who had Advil in her purse.

I said on another thread this morning that my patience has ended for the nonsense in public education. I think that states should close all public schools, dole-out $2000 per child to their parents for the children's education, and then the states should plow the rest of the money spent on schools into upgrading roads. If schools actually taught kids how to write and do math, some of this nonsense could be tolerated, but schools are even educating kids anymore, so disband them all.

I wonder if they'll use the same logic to prohibit the gay "rainbow" flag.

Rebel flag has no place in education

As a proud Richland Rebel alumnus, I respectfully disagree with that statement.

I wonder if the ban on racially insenstitive or divisive apparel also includes FUBU.

"Principals can say they don't want rebel flags at their school," County Schools Director John O'Dell explained.

Oh, really? Well how about saying they don't want Teeshirts with a picture of Malcolm X on campus. Or any reference to "Kwanzaa", or the Mexican flag?

Yes, suppose a principal says: No more Mexican flags and no more pictures of Malcolm X. That would be just fine, right Mr. O'Dell?

If anyone wants to paint it on the top of his mobile home, he can do so.

Racist idiot. Save us from stereotypes. A few years back we passed a multi-million dollar house on Orange Beach flying the Batle flag.

The reb Flag is still a part of history, and the war between the states was not fought over the slave issues alone.

To take away the truth behind the flag, is to hide the history and politics which shaped many southern lives.

Lets fly the Don't tread on me flag In front of the U.N.
right next to the stars and stripes, and the reb flag!

Afterall, isn't that the real statement of American History?

Ops4 God BLess America!

This liberal leftist dumb ass banned the "Stars and Bars". I would love to send my kid to her school with the Confederate Battle Flag and have her argue with me.

Rebel flag has no place in education

It will when education is once again about educating the student and not filling them with propaganda. Gee, the left is so pathetic.

The Supreme Court ruled that the First Amendment right to free speech can be seriously restricted in connection with political campaigns. How long until offensive speech is criminalized? And who will define "offensive"?
