If Dean is smart, and I think he is, he won't put Hillary on the ticket - he needs crossover votes and won't get them with her. Besides, if anything she would run for president herself before settling for vice-president, imho.

Gee, so "spending" is up.

Goodness, we had better gloss over what we got for that spending, right?! After all, we've got to have something to bash Bush about (such as hype) besides facts, policies, and people.

The medicare, however, is a farce, as is the excessive pork spending that he refuses to veto.

Yup. This is what REALLY disappoints me about W. He signed that HUGH education bill that the Swimmer backed / penned, and now this prescription drug bill pork.

To use Tom Dascle's expression, "I am saddened. Deeply saddened;" at W's signing these pork bills. Robert KKK Byrd could not push more pork through the legislature than Porky Pig and W!

Nothing will change until the sheeple realize that the real power is the media

That's a quandry for a conservative because the person who wants to 'break-up' the media monopoly is Dean.

I don't want to get your blood pressure up, but I knew you would like to comment on this thread.

I know some conservatives are all a-dither over some of President Bush's actions. Not me. Over the long haul, we will look back on his first four years as president, as earth shattering, mind boggling to the left. He's well on his way to proving Republicans don't starve babies, kill old folks, poison the air and water. The left, even the loony toon voters, will have to acknowledge that republicans aren't mean-spirited devil racists. Ok, boo hiss, he's had to go further than many of us would like in proposing government programs, we can live with it in order to correct the Clinton lies against us, that began with the Contract For America.

If Howard Dean and Al Gore can rid the DNC (and the country), of Clinton power, we can get back to the days of honest political debate, civilized discourse, and reasonable conversation with the other side of the political aisle.

There any room in here for those of us who admire Bush's accomplishments, but are alarmed at the outrageous level of government spending, gross negligence in immigration matters, and acquiescence to judicial tyranny?

How did you lose yours, and specifically, *what* can you not do today that you *could* do before Bush was sworn in as President? I'm curious about just what specifically you think that you've somehow "lost."

You may not have checked the news today, but the CFR bill that he gleefully signed into law was upheld by the supreme court this morning. That means that I or a group can't buy time to run a tv or radio ad pointing out the voting record of any candidate for national office. I call that a loss of a 1st amendment right.

Everyone here already has their mind made up about the patriot act and it's impact on the 4th amendment, so I won't bother with the details (psst...the next dem in the white house will be able to abuse the hell out of that one. Imagine the NRA being labeled a terrorist organization by the AG!)

He has promised to sign the extension of the assault weapons ban if it reaches his desk...and it will, so he will, just like with CFR.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I kind of liked being the party that starved babies, killed old folks and poinsoned the air and water. At least when we were being accused of all that, we were actually trying to make government smaller....remember those days?

"The spending is out of control and somebody’s going to have to pay for it, and it’s my children. And I don’t think that’s right

The Federal Debt was on the way to being paid off until the Fed and OBL screwed things up. But it's improving and will be on the way to being paid off once more. Probably there will be a hint of black in a couple years. Next time there won't be an OBL and the Fed is out of ammo, so it looks pretty good in the crystal ball.

The fed has plenty of ammo, they're just done with the short term rates. Just wait until they start buying long term treasuries.

So per my question about what rights you have lost under Bush that you had under Clinton, you've gone from your original claim of 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 10th Amendments down to just the 1st per the terms of today's Supreme Court ruling about a 60 day no-tv-ad window that doesn't even apply to web pages, billboards, bumper stickers, movie theaters, or even TV news shows.

Hyperbole won't help your argument, I hope that you realize...

he has reached so far across the aisle that he is indistinguishable from a moderate democrat.

You've just about pegged out the absurdity meter with this comment.

proposing government programs, we can live with

Yes, expanding government at a rate not seen since LBJ is easily lived with by the inhabitants of Bushbotville in the magical kingdom of Bushbotland.

Rep. Mark Souder, a conservative Indiana Republican who voted for the Medicare bill, said that small-government Republicans have been stirred up by conservative talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. But when the election comes, the libertarian faction’s anger will be "almost irrelevant," he said.

"Are they going to vote for Howard Dean?" Souder asked.

"Libertarian"? Cutting spending is classic conservatism.

I suppose we could vote for (gasp) Buchanan.
