I volunteer some of my spare time to teach Hunter Education for the NM Game and Fish Department. Most of the students are teenagers. Does this mean I am an accomplice in Bambi's murder?

I've enjoyed the hiking and camping for many years without killing anything. Except when I go out with my best friend, who is a photographer, and I have to hump his equipment.

Confusing love of nature with hunting is common. Note how many people use the "I love animals, that's why I hunt," argument. By logical extension, it actually goes, "I love animals, that's why I kill them."

ie: no logic

But Warchild9, why? how? a mole? How the heck do you hunt for a mole? They're not that big.

Bear meat is greasy, but cooks well over an open fire. It fills one up real good, too.

Remember, I've potted a few in my day.

The wolves have wiped out most of the deer, antelope, elk and moose in Idaho. They are also killing large numbers of domestic cattle and sheep. There is little left to manage or hunt in Idaho now.

Outrageous. However, sure sounds like it's past time to go wolf hunting with a vengence.

It means you are sustaining the attitude that it's okay to kill for fun.

And I'm a strict believer in firearm safety training. My daddy was career USMC, and taught me how to handle firearms properly from puphood.

It was above ground. I shot it. I ate it. The memory sickened me for a long, long time.

Could you just answer the question?

That being, is it acceptable for someone to hunt for consumption despite their access to the local supermarket?

Sounds like wolves no longer belong in that ecosphere. Again, reintroducing them was misguided, and ridding the area of them is necessary, though live-trapping would be preferable. (Though hardly likely: wolves are notoriously difficult to live-trap.)

Correctiion to my post #54. It seems the noon news was all wrong. Normal.

I got this from the PA Game Commission site. Still a lot of bear.

"HARRISBURG - The Pennsylvania Game Commission reported today hunters took 149 black bears during a special six-day season in Poconos-based Wildlife Management Unit 3D. But when combined with the earlier three-day statewide bear season harvest of 2,846, the overall preliminary 2003 bear harvest of 2,995 fell short of the record harvest in 2000 of 3,075."

To answer your question:

Yes, go to the supermarket. It's the KILLING FOR FUN which is objectionable. Actually eating meat is a personal decision.

Hunting is a legal activity that has been around since the beginning of time, get over it.

They're ANIMALS! Get over it you candy-ass. Sheesh. All of you who cry over the poor wittle animals. Animals have to die in order for us to live. For that matter, PEOPLE (terrorists) have to die in order for us to live.

I almost welcome the coming economic collapse just so people in America get back in touch with reality.

Real men club the bear to death after they slip on the ice.
