hunting is killing for funWell, since you're so into strawman arguments...how do ya feel about abortion, the killing for convenience?

Grow up. Read my profile. I haven't eaten (or created)roadkill in many years. And I've been secure in my manhood for as long. (No pickup trucks, no cursing, no hunting is required for a real man.)

What is with your constant judging of what is 'manly'? You seem to be obsessed with it. In fact your very presence here is bewildering, because with your combative, belittling demeanor, you can not hope to win any converts to your side. All you can hope to do is annoy, and that seems to be your aim. That's why I'm saying go away. You're not contributing anything to this thread other than name calling.
So what is the void in your life that you're trying to fill up by posting on a story where no one agrees with you, and all you can do is try to piss people off? Is there some sort of manliness gap in your life, and the only way you can bridge that gap is to start fights on an internet forum?
You are pathetic.

So as long as one lives in a remote area, hunting for one's supper is acceptable? Please clarify - if one has access to the local supermarket, hunting for consumption is NOT acceptable?

If you had to, then I respect your service to your family. Most people kill animals for fun. The meat is secondary.

Cut him some slack Flashbunny, he ate a mole as a kid. Sheesh!

Read my profile, fellah. I'm uncompromising pro-life. (I eventually get that as a reaction: "You love animals, therefore you hate people." Non sequitur.)

what is acceptable is what ever fits warchild's current whim. View his above posts - he admits he just posts on these threads to troll.

I've actually convinced people to stop hunting, or at least to think about what they're doing. There are, though, huntingbots who continue to kill for fun without thought, who consider anyone who questions them in this a threat, and so either:
1. Dismiss
2. Call names
3. Look around for other Freepers to back them up
It's hilarious.

I don't believe "fun" is a good description of what most hunters are looking for. Nor is proof of their manliness the object (it's more the result of their manliness, perhaps). At least these things are true of the deer hunters with whom I hunt, anyway. The best of whom, incidentally, is a female.
Since you are a vegetarian, though, I admit to the consistency of your logic and even its potential validity concerning the morality of the killing of creatures, though not at all the "sickness."

Northwestern NJ is having a bear problem. We have friends in Sussex County who deal with bears roaming their highly populated neighborhood several times a week.

The final numbers are in here in Pennsylvania for bear kills the last 6 days. 9,847. I heard this on the noon news and I find it hard to believe. The number seems too high. Maybe they mean around 980.
BTW, a bear got my dog last July. Thankfully it wasn't my kid.
To: warchild9
Do you kill something every time you hunt? I go hunting alot without killing. Also, please explain why it is "sick".
The kill, if it even happens, is not the fun part for me. It is the beginning of the work. Work to take care of the meat that I just harvested. The fun part is spending time in the woods or field as a steward of mother nature. Watching a fat squirrel climb into your stand, or a fox sneak through the woods, or eagles chase turkeys, that is fun. Or the time that a twentysomething can spend with his 70ish grandfather alone that is special. It is not sick.
You might have felt bad because you killed something for fun or trophy, but I say you were not a hunter. If killing happened everytime, it would not be called hunting, it would be killing.
To: agrace
Please note:
Killing for FUN is sick. In our culture, the killing is done by specialists (mostly Mexicans, it just so happens).
Killing because one has to is a sad necessity.
My comments are aimed at those who confuse masculinity with a crude attitude towards life. It's obvious who they are.
To: warchild9
Read my profile, fellah. I'm uncompromising pro-lifeWhat does THAT have to do with roadkill? You don't even have the decency to admit when you're wrong. That tells me ALL I need to know about the kind of person you are.

That is...if I don't shoot him first.

Eating a mole is awful. My father would have whupped me if I hadn't, so I ate the sucker.
