I've already thought of a way to stick a thumb in the eye of the Supreme Court and this law. Run an ad somewhere that says, "Congressman Clank is a bum and should not be reelected." Then, the rest of the ad should consist of screen after screen of thousands of names of supporters of the ad. It should have this final line. "Come and get us."

Are they going to charge and try thousands of people? If they do, is any jury going to convict? It's called civil disobedience, and it can work if enough people join in.

As someone who reads many legal opinions, are you sure you want to leave the interpretation of the full effect of a 300 page opinion to the average newspaper reporter ?

Exactly. A full page ad can be bought around here for between $45-$70 thousand, depending on which of the major papers. Actually, you can get it for 1/2 that if you are willing to let the paper pick the day it runs within a two week window. We should be starting funds now for Oct-Nov 2004. We would choose a close congressional race (hint-hint) or just do it in the Presidential. Point out the many legitimate deficiencies in the opponent which the press are covering up, urge the election of our guy, AND SIGN THE AD BY THE THOUSANDS.

One major concern--- a whole lot of the big dailies would totally refuse to accept the ad.

That is the question ... Where. What newspaper or other media outlet is going to take our money to run an ad the SCOTUS has ruled we can't? It seems to me they have limited our FreeSpeech by binding the hands of those whom we would use to magnigy that speech to the masses.

Is the ruling that I/We can't buy and ad or that those media outlets can't sell us ad space?

This is what I'm proposing to do. Looking at the travesty of a law, it appears that print ad won't work, nor internet (yet), so we'll have to come up with a TV or Radio ad (much cheaper) on a station that reaches 50,000 people who is also willing to run the ad.

Let's do this thing. Let them come and arrest us. Someone needs to draw a line and tell Congress, the President, and the SCOTUS, "This far and no further."

And where's the outrage? When is the massive protest!? Why aren't we gathering in Phoenix with a vat of tar and sacks of feathers and a rail to deal appropriately with RINO McCain? No, instead we've got FReepers even on here defending this crap. Defending it!!? Dammit!!

Good Idea, but if FR was used in part to collect all of those signiture then could they go after FR or Jim Robinson ?
