Here is an amalgamation of trivial facts and seemingly useless data. Do not forget to hit the hyperlinks. We have links, lots of them.

COULROPHOBIA |
An irrational fear of clowns. What, fear those delightful purveyors of slapstick comedy? One may as well go in terror of Santa Claus (but then a few people do that too, sad cases of Santa Claustrophobia). But clown humour has always embraced cruelty in its teasing and insulting of other clowns and members of the audience. Clowns represent anarchy, the personifications of unreason, and a force of nature out of control. Who knows what really lies behind their unchanging painted faces and outlandish costumes? These are all good enough reasons for even the strongest and most adult of us to feel unease in the presence of a clown. Some children are terrified by them and a surprisingly large proportion of adults confess to finding them creepy and disturbing, so much so that this word for their condition has had to be invented. Its not oldperhaps from the 1980sand has been taken from Greek kolon, a limb, which seems strange until you find the related kolobathristes was a stilt-walker. This seems to have been the nearest its coiner could get to a suitable classical allusion, since ancient Greek didnt have a word for a clown in our modern sense. |

Happy Birthday Arthur Fiedler 1896 Conductor; born in Boston, Mass. Trained as a violinist in Boston and Berlin, he joined the Boston Symphony (1915--30), first playing violin, then viola. Determined to conduct, he founded his own chamber orchestra, the Boston Sinfonietta, in 1924. In 1929 he launched the Esplanade summer series, free concerts by the Boston Symphony, along the Charles River. In 1930 he took over the Boston Pops Orchestra and for almost a half century he was the most beloved conductor of light-classical music in the U.S.A. Active in promoting music through various mediums, he was also made an honorary fire chief because of his practice of chasing every major fire, day or night, and became a familiar figure to Bostonians at the scene of the fires.

Two confirmed bachelors sat talking, their conversation drifed from politics to cooking.
"I got a cookbook once," said one, "but I could never do anything with it."
"Too much fancy work in it, eh?" asked the other.
"You said it. Every one of the recipes began the same way - 'Take a clean dish'".

On this day: 1969 - TV history was made when Tiny Tim and Miss Vicki Budinger were married on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson.
Tiptoe to the window, by the window that is where I'll be Come tiptoe through the tulips with me! Tiptoe from your pillow, to the shadow of a willow tree And tiptoe through the tulips with me! Knee deep in flowers will stray, we'll keep the showers away. And if I kiss you in the garden, in the moonlight, will you pardon me? Come tiptoe through the tulips with me! |

New Atomic Discovery... The heaviest element known to science was recently discovered by GM Research physisists. The element, tentatively named Administratium, has no protons or electrons and thus has an atomic number of zero. However, it does have 1 neutron, 125 asistant neutrons, 75 vice neutrons, and 111 assistant vice neutrons. This gives it an atomic number of 312. These 312 particles are held together by a force that involves the continuous exchange of meson-like particles called morons. Since it has no electrons, Administratium is inert. However, it can be detected chemically as it impedes every reaction that it comes in contact with. According to the discoverers, a minute amount of Adimnistratium caused one reaction to take over four days to complete when it would have normally occuered in less than one second. Administratium has a normal half-life of approximately three years, at which time it does not actually decay but instead undergoes a reorganization in which assistant neutrons, vice neutrons, and assistant vice neutrons exchange places. Some studies have shown that the atomic mass actually increases after each reorganization. Research at other laboratories indicates that Administratium occurs naturally in the atmosphere. It tends to concentrate at certain points such as government agencies, large corporations and universities and can usually be found in the newest, best appointed and best maintained buildings. Scientists point out that Administratium is known to be toxic at any detectable level of concentration and can easily destroy any productive reaction where it is allowed to accumulate. Attempts are being made to determine how Administratium can be controlled to prevent irreversible damage, but results to date are not promising. |

Dear God Hi! It's MoJo again! I know! I know! I'm always bugging you, but you don't seem all that busy. Right? After all, Santa Claus is the busy one this time of year. Not you!
Anyhoo, I have a few questions that I need answered. Please find it in your schedule to make sure that I get these answers back ASAP. I've gotta have answers ya know.
1. Could you please tell us who our Daddy is? Why is it that I"m fabulously tanned and tomkow isn't? Is that a genetic defect or were you trying to prove a point? Just curious.
2. Who is to be blame for coming up with the idea that Wednesdays was "over the hump" day? Was he a camel or did he just admire them? After all, a woman would never think of such a stupid thing to call Wednesdays.
3. Does the Goddess understand the word V-A-C-A-T-I-O-N? If so, when's she going on a paid one? Anytime soon? Just curious!
4. Does the USPS really need another rate increase? Are they actually entitled to getting more money? If so, where are my packages? Why are they never on time?
5. I know Ma says you love everyone, but does that mean you love people from "France" as well? Really?
6. What were you thinking when you created France? Were you having an off day? If so, could you fix that little issue for the rest of us? We can't afford or handle anymore of those types of slip ups. Honestly! Fix it now!
7. Will Queenie be happy with this new decoration style in the Palace or will she change it out next Spring? She loves to shop. Thanks for ensuring that shopping isn't a part of my genetic structure. I hate it!
8. Who came up with the .99 cent menu items at Wendy's? Why couldn't it have been a penny menu items? Why .99 cents? Seems a bit of an odd number to me!
9. When you created "freedom of the press" for humans, did you actually foresee Al Gore owning a Liberal Talk Radio station?
10. Why is it when I call my bank that I can't seem to get anyone that speaks English? Is this a conspiracy?
11. Why is Boomer a female in the new "miniseries" on SciFi channel? Was there a reason for that?
12. Why does MoJo have to wait six months to begin the second half of SG-1 on SciFi? Couldn't you make them hurry up already?
13. Do people in Hollywood actually believe what they are saying? Do they actually believe the rest of us really care about their opinions? Really?
14. Um, do you think you could tell Old Sarge to pick MoJo up on his way to a Christmas vacation that will be fun and warm? (Might I also add that I'm really good at picking out license plates from other states!)
15. Is Mr. Goat really undercover or is Mr. Tonkin pulling our legs? Is he just trying to hide the fact that he's finally gotten rid of Mr. Goat? Please tell us immediately!
16. Has Ma actually stayed awake at work today or she just pretending to be working as usual. Honestly, she's never really doing anything when I call to ask her a question. It's like she's waiting for me to call to get her out of working.
17. Did blackie and Mr. Tonkin's dancing really cause the Earthquake over here in my backyard? If so, could you have them do again, but send them to France to do it? Thanks!
That's it for now! I'll check in when I need more answers.
Thanks, MoJo |

Dear God One more thing:
Did you have to call Robert Bartley home so soon? At 66, he was relatively young compared to Moses.
Honestly, I'm pretty bummed about this one. Why do all the good folks get called home so soon?
Rest In Peace to Robert Bartley, fmr Editorial Chief of the Wall Street Journal!
He loved America, our military, and Israel. Things very dear to my heart! God Bless his family! |
